Planning next years family trip & I was thinking of staying at 3-4 resorts in a 10 day period. I've split stays between 2 resorts before & had no problem with it. In fact, it was nice to have the different experiences....

If I did 2 nights AKL, 3 nights Swan/Dolphin,2 nights POFQ & 3 nights CR would that be an insane amount of moving?

If I was going to cut one out, it'd be POFQ - making 3 nights AKL, 4 nights S/D & 3 nights CR........

I would go with your second plan - staying 2 days is really not enough time to have fun at the resort. 3 to 4 days is better.

I'll let you know when I get back from my trip Jan. 8th. Unless
a discount comes out I will be doing 1 night sheraton safari, 2 nights swan, 3 nights AKL and 4 nights magic.

Won't have enough points for all three nights at the Swan but
we want to stay on site as much as possible DD loves staying
at Disney! We have a package for AKL/magic with a great rate,
but arriving a few days early durning NYE week there are no
discounts so its starwood points time.

I"ll be the one singing "hi ho, hi ho, its off to pack I go"

Wintermom:crazy:

I agree with Spiceycat...I'd go with second plan. However, I think I'd do it just slightly different. For me, the perfect split would be: 2 in AKL - 2 nights should be enough for the park and to enjoy the resort; 5 in EPCOT/MGM area - this is 2 parks to see and also water parks and DTD are closer to Swolphin; and 3 in MK area - lots can be said for MK and being on monorail for different resort dining options. Just MHO.:wave2:

Actually I find the moving thing to be very east. But then I never enter my suitcase. So for me moving just means that when I finish my day at a park I just get on a different bus.

However, some people find the moving to be a hassle. If you have not done it before then I would limit it to 3 hotels.

My suggestion, stay at the AKL last. This is a resort that you really want to linger over. And it may be easier to do that at the end of your vacation then at the beginning.

Stitch, you have a good point about making AKL the last in our string of stays. I think it would be more suited to relaxing at the end of our stay.
My DH will be joining us for half the trip & wants to see both AKL & S/D. There's no reason he can't join us at the end of the trip vs. the beginning tho.

So, does CR 3 days, S/D 4 days, AKL 3 days sound better?

OK, see below for our next adventure which will last 14 days. We are in our 50's now, and our 5 have all grown and gone. We really enjoy a new venue every couple of days. Just pack up the stuff, hand it to the bell people, hop on a bus and off we go - besides, some of those mattresses can get really uncomfortable!
Can't wait for the upcoming adventure!

We just returned from a 3/3 split stay and it didn't seem long enough for us. Our last split stay was 4/5 and that gave us time to become settled in at the resort. 3/3 was too short for us with kids. We lived out of the suitcases and didn't even unpack. I didn't like that.

I think that having kids or not really influences the minimum time at a resort. We've resort hopped a couple of times. I don't remember the exact number of days at each resort, but the first time I was down in Orlando with my 18month old son (the other kids were home with grandparents) and my husband spent part of his time at a conference. We stayed at CS one night, CR a couple nights and then WL concierge a couple nights. That was a lot of changing, mainly because we had a young child who still napped, my husband was busy at the conference for 2 of those moves, and we didn't have a car. Disney moves your things, but I would have preferred to have just tossed our things in the trunk of the car.

The second stay was with all our kids (4 kids). We stayed at the AKL a few nights, Universal Hard Rock Hotel a couple nights and then the Swan 2 or 3 nights. That was easier since we were at each place longer and we had our car. Of course we had lots of things to pack up each time time, but my older kids were old enough to help.

I'm thinking about resort hopping with my husband. We'll only be at WDW 4 nights at most, but we won't have any kids with us :teeth: so packing up should be easy. And my husband just won't be able to take a nap that day. ;)

My son will be just shy of 17 for this trip, so he can pack himself, lol. My DH will only be with us for one of the moves.
I talked to Max today & he says 3 resorts. 4 is too many - so we are sticking with CR/S&D/AKL.

Wow! It looks so weird - "My son will be just shy of 17" - Where the heck did the time go??????

Time flies when you're having fun!!! My DD is the same age and I can't believe it. But, she has 3 younger brothers, one of them only 4yo, so I'll be doing this for a long time. :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
