If a house has a Fiberglass built in swimming pool, would the resale value be the same as if the pool was a gunite pool with everything else being equal?
I think you'll need a Real Estate agent in your area to make a clear determination as it varies dramatically depending on the market/region (climate) of the country. Pools can decrease the value of your home in some areas while the right types of pools can increase it in other areas.
IMO, you should look at a pool as an investment for yourself, buy what you're going to like (and maintain as each requires different types of maintenance). Unless you're selling soon (which you probably shouldn't invest in installing a pool anyways as you most likely will not recover your investment) the preferences in the future can (and most likely will) change.

Depends on the house & location really. A pool may add value or just sell the house in TX.
A pool is really a "loss" respectively. You can never recoup "full price" ever.
Now you may get something out of it. If it is in good shape along with the house then you might see some money back & it helps sell the house.
I will say that a fiberglass pool is a little dodgey in TX. So you might have a cloud of suspicision with it. I would do some reading on problems associated with fiberglass pools in TX.
We put in a gunite pool when we were in TX and mainly a pool is like part of the norm if that makes sense, in the neighborhood we were in.
(not a real estate agent yet, although working in that direction soon)

Pools are a crap shoot. For every 20 clients, you'll have maybe 2 that say, "OOOh we'd love to have a pool!" It really depends on your location, what the norm is, etc.
But if you're going to install one, do the best you can afford.
Remember, people are going to hear fiberglass and be a little guarded. If I can recall you have the pool popping out issue, right?
Here in MO fiberglass pools are mainly the standard. We do not have the severe shrinking of the ground like TX does.
Have you had estimates from gunite dealers and then asked them about fiberglass? I am sure they are going to give you the scare treatment however this would be pretty informative.
Around here you definitely recoup the entire price you put into a pool and then some. I know. We did it on our last house. Also not having a pool will mean it'll take longer to sell the house. Oh, and a fiberglass pool is better than no pool but not as nice as a gunite pool. Again, that is around here. Things could very well be different in your neck of the woods.
We're in Florida though and use our pool almost year round and definitely all summer long. Shoot, it is the only thing the kids are willing to do outside come July and August.
