Question for "pro-life"/no exceptions people?

I've been reading a few of these abortion topic threads lately, but I haven't seen this clearly answered and I'm curious:

The people who are strictly pro-life/no exceptions....

-If it was found that your pregnancy was going to lead to your own death, would you still choose to have the baby?

-If it was found that your baby would only live a few hours & would do so in excruciating pain & suffering, would you still choose to have the baby & let them live their "entire life" in pain and suffering?

I'm guessing your answers are "yes" to the above questions, since you are "pro-life/no exceptions" believers. I'm just trying to understand the rationale behind your answers.

Or maybe the majority of "pro-lifers" do accept exceptions for these cases? Again, just trying to understand these points of view.

Thanks!

I guess you can put any circumstances around a proposal to sway people, but I look at it from the standpoint of:

how is it going to affect me, by increasing the crowd size when I go to WDW!

here, have some RUM!!

hehehehehehehehehe

Did you answer the wrong thread? :confused3 I have NO idea what you are talking about, with regards to my question...

Yes, I answered yes.

For the first part of your question....I would give my life to save the life of one of my children so how would the situation be any different.

For the second part....my faith in God would sustain me. There are miracles and there are mistakes made by the medical profession.

I'm VERY VERY pro-life.

Yes I would still have the baby even if it meant I was going to die.

I actually had the option to abort my first DD at 26 or 28 wks (its been over 8 years I really can't remember) due to her having a congenital heart defect. I choose to have her. Yes she had to have open heart surgery at 6months. They couldn't tell me if she would live an hour or 100 years until she was born. I still choose life. :lovestruc

That being said I would more than likely end a pregnancy with very very very sever congenital problems. (IE no brain, sever chromosome problems NOT ds) Other than that I wouldn't abort a baby, even if I was raped, unplanned stuff like that.

Thank you for your response. I can understand your point of view for the first part of the question-you would die for your children.

I am still having trouble understanding the point of view for the second part. Do you mean you would pray to God that the child would not end up in pain and suffering? and if it still ended up that the baby was born with pain and suffering & a fatal illness, would you continue to keep it alive for the short remainder of it's life?

Again, I am NOT judging-I'm just trying to understand this point of view.

Thank you for your reply. So, you do believe otherwise in extreme circumstances. Is this common amongst even hardcore pro-lifers?

Yes I answered your question, you just have to figure out which one it was. Its obvious by your post that you are trying to sway people by asking negative impact questions.

so...which party do you work for? Just curious.

It dosn't really matter, because all the issues you bring up will continue after the election is long over. and if you think any one party is going to address them...

well

guess again.

in the meantime....go to WDW and have fun!!!

WooHoo!!!:dance3:

As a mother I can completely agree to the statement "I would give my life for my children".
Oh yes, in a heartbeat.
But.......would I leave my children without a mother, my children who are here, alive and well NOW? No, I honestly don't think I could do that to them.
I've worked in a NNU, and while you would always want to give your child every possible chance....it would be incredibly hard to watch your baby die, in pain. You would have to ask yourself - who is the one benefiting from this? You or your child?

Ok, so far I've gotten 3 relevant responses from HelenePA, Breezy1077, & I'm about to read Dr.Finkelstein's-thank you for those.

Anyone else?

Thank you for your response. I am definately understanding the answers to my first question & while I'm not sure what I would do in that situation, I respect your decisions & views.

As for my second question, so far it is sounding like "restrictions under extreme circumstances" are common beliefs amongst pro-lifers.

but Grumpy Pirate has given me an excellent perspective

Why thank you, thank you very very much!!!:lmao:

That's ok, I don't mind explaining. I would just "give it up to God" and pray for a miracle. I would need more specifics about the cont. to keep alive part, but I would not terminate pregnancy.

Thank you for your response. I am starting to understand it more and I admire your strong faith in God. :)

My dsis and her dh were disowned by his parents after she ended up aborting her child. They desperately wanted children but when they found out that the baby had no brain and would not live to take his first breath they aborted. It was heartbreaking for her and they made it worse. At the time my friends dd was really made about it as well. She said that she would have raised the child if they didn't want it. The baby had no brain??? It wasn't going to live. I have always wondered where their brains were.

That is a very sad story & a horrible thing for your Dsis & her DH to go through:sad1:

Of course I would give my life for my children. However, if the pregnancy had to be terminated in order for a woman to live, and she didn't terminate, wouldn't the fetus die along with the woman? I'm sure if it was late enough to be viable, the baby would be delivered. :confused3

I am in agreement with breezy's response. As far as keeping ANYONE alive artificially when there is no hope for recovery, especially if it was against their wishes, that I would not do. I just don't agree with killing an unborn child, which I believe abortion is, and I also don't believe in the death penalty.
