Occasionally when time comes for me to check out of the home, there will be some food items left that I can't use. Should I just toss it? Suppose it is an unopened 2 ltr bottle of soda or water, unopened stick of butter or bag of chips? I hate to waste it if someone can use it. But if it's going to be tossed anyway, I guess I can do it myself instead of leaving it for the cleaners to toss. What is the right thing to do?

To be honest the cleaning crews take what ever is unopened for them silves and get rid of what they do not want. Not sure what exactly they toss but it is illegal to have anything opened in the home.

Something might stayin the home but not much of any thing.

I'm glad that the cleaning crew will take it. I know it wouldn't be left for the next person but I didn't want it to be just thrown if it could be used. Definately wouldn't want to leave something that had been opened though.

I am certain the clean crew would appreciate anything not opened. Just a little added extra.

We just leave a note with any unopened canned goods, etc..on the counter.

"Help yourself, and thanks!"

I know Ive asked my MC to instruct cleaners to throw away everything.I know it seems a waste, but they havent the time to check sell by dates etc and dont want my next guest assuming they are in date etc.

Obviously I dont know if cleaners take anything-thats up to them,
