I think I have decided on the Poly for next trip...primarily as I want to try a resort on the monorail.....

to those of you who know...what should I request to get the best room that would provide us with"a view" , ease of getting around, and a nice room....we do not need concierge

and quickly, is there a food court or similiar for breakfast primarily?

thanks for helping me plan the surprise!

Well if you can afford it the best views are lagoon view rooms, but they are pricey. The garden views are nice and look over the well kept grounds.

There is a quick service meal place called Captain Cook's. It has everything from cereal, poptarts, danishes, snacks to a counter where they make you eggs or chicken fingers ( and more ). There is a microwave located here and toaster and drinks. You purchase your refillable mug here and use the fountain for drinks throughout your trip. Hope that helps.

Congrats - you've made an excellent choice. We always book a garden view and always request a view of something other than a parking lot, a room with a balcony or patio, and non-smoking. We've stayed there twice and both times they have met our requests. We like Tokelau - you can get a side view of the lagoon or the castle depending on where they put you. The location is very central to everything. The Poly is absolutely wonderful. We like the lush tropical surroundings, the relaxed atmosphere and the views from the beach are incredible. I can't think of one bad thing to say about it.

Captain Cooks is open around the clock so you can get breakfast, snack, lunch or dinner.

They have two great restaurants - Kona Cafe (best breakfast on property), and Ohanas.

You'll love it!

We had a lagoon view in Tahiti last June. View of the castle couldn't have been better. I do have to add, however, that my boys sometimes tired of the walk to Tahiti. Something to consider if you have little ones.

Since we are tied to going during the rainy season due to school schedules, next time we're choosing the Cont. tower or the WL. After getting caught in numerous downpours making our way from the room to a restaurant at the Poly, we prefer to stay where there are indoor hallways.

We just came back on 9/10 and we stayed in Roratonga facing the quiet pool and we loved how close we were to everything.

We just came back from the Poly at the end of August, our DD has started the college program.
We loved it, the rooms were huge and since we knew we would on the go most of the time we went for the garden room which still had a view of the pool and the laggon from the sides of the balcony..
Yes the do have a nice quick place to eat, but you must try Ohana's!!
And of course the monarail is the best!:earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

If you don't need the concierge try the Fiji Longhouse. On tikimans site, click on the Fiji link and take a look at some of the views from that building. You get pool, marina, a slight lagoon view and at a garden view price. The photo at the bottom of a view is GREAT!! ( http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/fiji.html ). Plus Fiji is in a great location within the resort.

Have a great time!!

everyone seems to have their favorite and that web site of tikimans is amazing for info....maybe i should ask

is there a place you would recommend we not choose?
