We are staying at CBR from May 22-26, 2004.
At first we wanted to stay at Martinque but decided that we didn't want to be too close to the crowd! So we have requested Jamaica now.....
Problem is I am a VERY light sleeper due to my daughter's medical needs so I can not sleep with much noise around. a lot of people have said we should request Trinidad South instead as it will be quieter.
We will have our own car and would use a playground and quiet pool more than the main pool.
What is the time difference in the walk from Trinidad South to OPR compared to the walk from Jamaica?
We also need contecting rooms... do all the Islands have these?

We are going on our Honey moon but draggin half the family with us...... :o(
Oh well, we'll still have a blast!

The walk from Trinidad South and Jamaica is about the same to Old Port Royale. There are quiet rooms in both but I think, only my opinion, you may find it quieter in Trinidad. As for the walk, it's like you are in a tropical island so we always enjoy the walks. There are connecting rooms in every village. Good Luck and enjoy your stay. You'll love it no matter where you end up.

We stayed in Jamaica #41 in Sept 2003. I found the village to be quiet and didn't hear a "peep" from our neighbors. The walk to Old Port Royale was about 5 min walk. We went to the main pool a couple of times and it was fine. I personally wouldn't want to be next to the food court/main pool because of the noise. But, Jamaica was a nice choice. So, we are going again this September and requesting Jamaica again.:jumping1:

I don't think it's the village that matters as much as the neighbors around you (which you can't control). I stayed there for a night in November and there was a group of about 6 adults sitting out on the walkway talking away until late like they were at a Sunday afternoon picnic. Their kids were probably sleeping in their rooms so they went outside. This was in Barbados, which you think would be quiet. Also, I thought the second floor would be more quiet but when kids run down the walkway, the sound vibrates up the walls, I guess because it is open underneath.

I would call the front desk 5 days before and ask if the hotel will be full and if not, if you could have an area where less rooms are assigned.

We stayed in Trinidad North, building # 31 and we never heard a peep! Plus we were only a 3 minute walk from the food court and main pool. We love CBR!

We stayed at Martinique 25, VERY close to OPR and the main pool, and felt like we had the place to ourselves, even though the resort was supposedly full! Very quiet, day or night. Never heard a thing. This is the main reason that DH insists on staying there again this year, only we will be requesting Jamaica, since Martinique is now a preferred building. I'd rather spend the extra $15 a day on Dole Whips and Mickey bars!
Wherever you stay, I think you will love this resort.

We just got back on Wed 1/21 and we stayed in Aruba at the CBR. I had heard/read so many mixed reviews about this resort. We were very pleased. Aruba was only a short walk to Port Royale and Jamaica was next to us. The bus transportation was very good and everyone was very nice. Our housekeeping was great and the food court had a nice variety, although we only used it for breakfast twice. My parents went with us and the hotel was very accomodating. They put us just 3 doors down from each other. I think you will be very pleased with your stay. Have fun!

For less outside-of-your-room noise, look at one of the online maps of CBR, and pick a building away from the so-called "quiet pools" at each island. There are quite a few nice little quiet corners around CBR!

Schmeck, off to find the map link

I agree :) I was there last May in Jamaica and all was quiet for the first three days until we had the noisiest neighbours move in. Their kids would yell and run up and down the hallways and then their parents would scream very loudly for them to come back! A couple of days they would even yell at each other!! Not much we could do since they were usually making noise between 7-8 AM. I noticed they did go to sleep early so I did think about finding a Jerry Springer like TV show and turning that waaaaay up

When we stayed at CBR we stayed in Building 46 Jamaica. If I were to stay at CBR again I would request this again. 5 minute walk to OPR and 1 minute to the bus stop. Not sure how the buses run now but at that time Jamaica was the first stop to be picked up and coming back from the parks was the first stop to be dropped off. Which was especially nice after the parks closed because the buses tend to be very full. :)

We stayed in Jamaica building 42 this past May. It was great. Very queit. Mousekeeping was very good to my son (5) - left towel animals daily. We hit the quiet pool every night after visiting the parks, not crowded at all. 5 min walk to the food court. Jamaica is first pickup on the bus route, but last drop off.

We are heading back in October - staying at CR. Can hardly wait.

Have fun and enjoy CBR - we sure did.
