What with trying to find reasonable prices in school holidays, figuring what resteraunts to choose 6 months ahead. Buying the right tickets for the right parks and organising everything else how on earth do you do it without going barmy? I take my hat of to you who have to organise this every year. This is my first (and only) time in taking my sister and her kids on holiday.

I think none of us go barmy because we all find making plans and organising keeps us sane in the days when we cannot be in Orlando.;)

I am just beginning to organise our first trip - May 09 and I know what you mean. If you have any tips please do not hesitate to pass them on - i cannot even decide what resort to go to!

Probably because the planning part of it all can be fun and being on the DIS keeps you kind of touch with Florida.
Also many of us have been several times so you do get good (or better at it), the only downside of it all is the escalating costs, which if like us you are restricted to summer is very expensive.

Ask away if you have any questions on accomodation, park tickets, crowds, weather or Florida in general. :)

Planning gives me my daily dose of pixie dust and gives me something nice to think about when I'm doing more mundane things :)

I agree totally.

This is such a great community and even though I mostly hang out on the UK Boards the people on the US and Canadian Boards have been very helpful when I've asked questions to make DH's business trips a bit more interesting.

So ask away there is someone who will probably be able to advise you whatever the topic e.g. Johnny is 'Mr Villas' amongst other things ;)

I only go every 3 to 4 years but I'm constantly planning the next trip, even if the plan does change several times before we actually go.:)

I know what you mean about the changing plans!

its impossible to explain just how good it is to go there, to people who have not been. I get bored easily, and WDW is the only place in the world, where I am guaranteed to have a superb time.

Entertaining the kids is done for us in directly.
Theres no cooking family meals for 2 weeks, no dishwasher to empty, clothes to wash, weather is always good, even rain is not a problem, but most importantly, you know that when you come home you know you will have had a great time and everyone else will have, and its that, that makes the planning a joy, knowing that your going again.

It keeps us going when it gets tough at work, or at home.

Same here - our next trip will probably be 2012 :scared1: but I am already mentally planning in the things we won't do this time. (US, IOA & DC) We have been saving £2 coins to pay for DD to go to the Bippidi Boppidi Boutique on her birthday. I think we'll save towards Discovery Cove '12 from now on.

I love the planning. As the others have all said it is something nice to lose yourself in after a long day at work. After several trips there and many, many hours on the Disboards I'm still learning new things many of which have saved me wasting my time and considerable amounts of money. :thumbsup2

I've been planning our first trip to WDW for years ;)
Bought most of the guide books over the past years. Plus of course everyone here and DLP posters who have been to both parks :goodvibes

I think I drive everyone at home barmy with my constant planning :thumbsup2

Completely agree. Wasn't keen on Disney until we went and am now hooked; complete escapism from the stress of everyday life. Planning is almost as good as being there. For us we used a combination of DIS and the Unofficial Guide.

DH and I went once before having the girls, I'm luckier than him as I'm globally well travelled so he never likes to return to anywhere. However, when I suggested in July 2006 that we go in April/May 2007 (we were there this time last year :sad2: ) he jumped at the chance, when I cheekily suggeted that we go again (on a tighter budget) in October 2007 (in his break between staring a new job) he, rather surprisingly jumped at the chance again. Nowhere are our children happier and for the few years that they will want to go on holiday with Mum and Dad we will take them elsewhere but I see us returning to WDW again and again - something that DH has never wanted to do in the past - that's what the place does to you, and the planning is all part of the fun :thumbsup2 Enjoy it!

Completely agree-it also helps that I was barmy before I started:rotfl2:
