Hi,
We are planning to book our next Disney Vacation for April 12th-22nd and we are going to book a 1 bedroom at OKW. We have never stayed there before. We would like to stay kind of close to the main building, but also don't want a parking balcony view. Any suggestions on what building we should request? It needs to be a non smoking room as my son has Asthma.

I don't think it's possible to get a parking lot view from the balcony. I believe all the balconies overlook either water or the golf course, and face away fromt he parking area.

Request a room near the hospitality house.

Here's a link to an OKW map.

I can't even think of any one bedroom that really has a parking lot view. The entrances to the villas are on the parking lot side, but only a few of the studios at the end of the building have a little bit of a parking lot view.

It's handy to be close to the Hospitality House, but you don't really need to be. You can hop any bus and ride over to the HH. And you can get the Internal or DTD bus and go back to your area.

There is a map of the villas that is floating around here, but I'm not sure where. You might try the search function to find it or else someone else will post it here.

Have fun at OKW. It's our favorite resort. We usually stay out on the Old Turtle Pond area.

If you want to be close to the main building than ask for a building close to the Hospitality House (that is the main building). You do not have to worry about seeing the parking lot from your villa because the parking lots are on the opposite side of the buildings from the balconies.
If you need an elevator, keep in mind that only 3 buildings at OKW have elevators. These also happen to be buildings close to HH.
You are going to love the size of the 1br and the balcony, very nice and spread out.
Have a great trip!

OKW is the best! (Okay maybe I am prejudiced being an OKW member. :thumbsup2 )
Don't worry about the view they are all very good-mostly golf course or trees. The only time that I coud see the parking lot was from a window in one of the bedrooms and that was still a great view. Some of the buildings near HH have mostly tree views.
You can hop on any bus to get to HH if you are not near HH. We love the villas along Old Turtle Pond Road. It is quiet and has a lovely pool with a whirlpool and in season the snack bar there is open.
If you are away from HH and take the bus to the main pool a short walk to the Peninsula Road stop will allow you to board any bus back to your building.
The space in the 1 bedroom is amazing. It is bigger than my bedroom at home, not to mention the bathroom and shower. We always get a non smoking unit and have never had a problem. (Some folks do smoke on their balconies.)
I am still trying to figure out how many points I need to retire to OKW!

::yes:: The balconies you see from the parking areas are the front doors/accesses. I think the studios on the ends but that still wouldn't have you staring at the parking lot.

FWIW, I have requested bldgs 11-14 the last 5 trips & have only gotten as close as Miller's Rd. I also have an asthmatic child so that limits us to 3 of the 4 bldgs as 1 is a smoking bldg. There are great views & locations all around OKW so don't be disappointed if they put you somewhere else.

Have fun!

One thing not yet mentioned about the 1-br's in the Hospitality House area is that the only access to the bathroom is thru the bedroom. That may be an issue if anyone is sleeping in the living room. This applies to buildings 11 thru 29 I think. All other buildings have a second door thru the laundry to the bathroom.
Note that buildings 62-64 are both near HH and have the second door.

We were in a 2BR in Bldg 14 at the left side so had a parking lot/ road view through the palm trees and bamboo from the room and the balcony. It was second floor right on the end. The road is the one coming into the resort so all the buses slow down and start up again right about there but unless you were sitting out on the balcony we didn't really hear them. I was just so happy they got us an extra day on a weekend the day before Hurricane Jeanne that I didn't care what the view was- we were at Disney and the next day we watched the wind and rain (but didn't hear it) and then enjoyed the rest of the week at the usual spots.

Not the newest buildings in the Hospitality House area. They are the newest buildings at OKW built where the old DVC offices were located. They are the buildings with the elevators and also have the new bathroom/br layout. I think they are buildins 62-64, or 63-65, not sure. I am sure somebody on the board will know.

I DID note that in the last line of my post!

Here is a map of OKW:

dvc_john is correct, in buildings 1-29 the 1BR villas only have oone entry to the bathroom and that is thru the master bedroom. Buidlings 30 and higher all have a second entrance.

Here is a full report of the OKW Building configuration.

I wouldn't worry too much about the location, just request a view - water, golf course or wooded - and you'll be fine.

Enjoy!
