question for NY'ers who purchased AKV

We've decided we want to pour some of the money from our recent VWL sale into points at AKV. Could anyone from NY who purchased tell me if we are in one of those states that require you to fly down to Florida to sign the papers? TIA

Hey fellow LIer, hi from Port Jeff. When we purchased SSR through Disney all documents were sent to us. they were clearly marked where to sign. A fed ex envelope was included to return all documents.

I just purchased 150pts from TSS store...
They sent everything.....I signed on the clearly marked
areas...and mailed everything back....

Submitted to rofr on 12-26...
closed week of 2-17....
In dvc system on 3-2...made 2 ressies already...
I need more points

Just curious....why did u sell WL....

Thanks, neighbors (we're in Greenport) -- that's just what I wanted to hear!! Guess our guide will be getting a call this week. We sold our VWL points because, while we think the resort is beautiful, we found that we enjoyed the laid-back, peaceful atmosphere of OKW more. We find that same kind of atmosphere at AKL, gazing at the savannah and always said that if they built a DVC there we would buy. I can't wait!!

Sounds great...I cant wait till we can stay at akv...
Funny thing is....I bought WL cause i wanted to stay there
during holiday time....was totally stressing I would
not be able to get my xmas ressie....1st week of dec....
Cause I had to wait to get in system.....

After all that stress...decided to go during F&W fest and halloween fest..
So my 1st trip will be to SSR...only thing avail...for last minute
trip memorial week...
I want to try every dvc....so I know where to add on
Anyway...maybe we'll see ya there...

just judy - You really didn't get a valid answer based on the above experiences. Each resort / development must be registered separately. So even though SSR is OK to buy directly from Disney in the state of New York, AKV may not be.

There are no restrictions buying resale, so kerri's experience isn't relevant no matter which resort she purchased.

If you look in hte AKV owner's thread, I think you will find members who live in New York that bought AKV and didn't go to WDW to do it - if so, you should be good to go The only way to be 100% sure is to call DVC Sales and ask.

Just figured I'd say Hi! from Selden NY! Didn't by AKV yet....just got through resale of BWV!!!!!! I'm with you, we still want more points!!!

It took months before NY would "allow" us to purchase BCV, when they were new. NY takes forever to approve a new DVC resort. Very frustrating!

We had issues when VWL was first offered.

I'm on LI also and we had no problem buying at AK last month. We had everything sent to us. Although I secretly would have loved an excuse to have to fly down.

Shout out from Franklin Square here! We own SSR for one year. Never made it Home yet my last trip was to Disneyland - DCH. Thinking about coming this summer. Plans are still up in the air!

I guess I'll have to let those Nassau County people in, since that's where I grew up (Freeport) and where DD went to college (Hofstra)! Thanks for all the replies. I do recall when NY'ers weren't able to purchase directly through Disney, and that's what had me a little worried. It would be just my luck to get all excited -- and DH talked into it -- only to find out we couldn't do it unless we flew to Florida. The worrying was all for naught, however, as I called our guide yesterday and added on 220 AKV points (September UY).
