My mother in law made ours and it holds lots of diapers. It hangs by the changing table and it's very convenient and I like having it. But I don't think it is a must have.

Remember, it's very easy to get sucked into thinking that you need stuff. You're on a new adventure, and you're hormonal. I remember with my first, I was obsessed with the idea of needing a wipe warmer. I brought her home from the hospital on July 1. Believe me, I did NOT need a wipe warmer!
I never had a diaper stacker. I put the diapers on the changing table.

We never had one with DD#1, I thought they were silly. Well, along came DD#2 who *FREAKED* with cold wipes. So we had to go buy one. :lmao: I think it's the only thing we got for #2 that we didn't use for #1.

I have an 8 month old and I just had to look up what a diaper stacker is. :lmao: But we use cloth diapers and wipes, so I didn't spend much time looking at diaper "stuff". We just have a basket under the changing table that I fill with the clean diapers when they come out of the dryer.

I had one but didn't use it. I tried but it was more in the way than it was useful!

I use diaper stackers, but both of mine came with a nursery bedding set, so I had them anyway. I like to change diapers at my changing table (which is a combo dresser/changing pad), and with both of my kids I hang the diaper stacker off of the dresser and fill it as needed. Diapers are always in reach! I buy diapers by the case from Sam's, so was better for me than to keep a gigantic box in the middle of the room.

I still use mine everyday even though DD is 20 months. I put a stack of night time diaper and a stack on daytime diapers. It keeps it neat and organized in her room. Downstairs I use a caddy that holds everything.

When she was little I hung the stacker on the changing table now its on the closet door. Downstairs we used the pnp.

This was me, exactly. :thumbsup2

I wouldn't say a diaper stacker is a necessity, but you've got to keep them somewhere. A basket, like some mentioned, would be prettier, but still involves the extra step of moving them from the package. I didn't like leaving diapers in the original package, because they pack them in there so tight, if I tried to pull out one when the package was new, I'd get several others along with it. So instead I would grab a few handfuls and fill the stacker every few days, then they were convenient when I needed them.

I also used the dresser-top changing pad up until they were potty trained. It was at the perfect height for me. I found it hard on my back to do it on the floor or bed.

But I had a wipe warmer that sat untouched in the closet through two kids, and I finally sold it at a garage sale in it's original box. :rotfl:

Thanks so much for all of your feedback!! We're not going to register for the diaper stacker. We were thinking it was probably just one more thing the stores were trying to convince us that we need, and I'm glad to hear that confirmed by so many others.

We're so excited about our little guy! He already has his first set of Mickey ears waiting for him. :teeth:

Thanks again!!

I could see where having a diaper stacker would be convenient if you were using cloth diapers. They are probably more of a holder over from the days were disposables were not available. I remember my mom using one for my youngest brother, back when everyone used cloth.

The diaper stacker was kind of useful for a little while. Once the oldest child was able to crawl, that just became a fun thing for her to empty.

I'm pregnant with our first child (due June 30! :yay: ) and DH and I are going through the whole registry deal. We're pretty much finished with it, but are going back and forth on a diaper stacker.

There's a really cute diaper stacker that goes with the nursery theme we've picked out, but with this being our first, we're not sure if these things are actually useful. We've made a real effort to only put things that we'll need on the registry and would like to continue with that.

So - from the other DIS moms out there - what did you think? Did you have one for your kid(s)? Was it great? Or, could you have really done without it?

Thanks!

I also looked up diaper stacker just to make sure I was thinking of the right thing.;)

I had one of those cheap wicker baskety type changing tables and I had my supplies stored in there. I loved that thing. Yes it was not so "pretty" but it was functional for me.

I went looking for them online here and could not find them. I wonder if they still make them.:confused3
