Just dreamin' about another disney vacation and the flights from Halifax are outragous :guilty: . We have flown 2 years in a row in March and both years airfare was under $400.00 cdn, but this year it is showing over $550.00. I noticed that if we flew out of Manchester we could get Southwest flights for about $200.00 or so :cool1: .

I would prefer to fly out of Bangor though, as it is closer. Has anyone flown out of Bangor? It would be a few hours less for us to drive to but I don't really see any seat sales and was wondering if I am just wasting my time waiting for something to come up out of Bangor? Should I just concentrate on Southwest flights out of Manchester? :earsboy:

Also wanted to know if you found any great savings after hotel, gas, food to get to the airport and back?

Thanks :Pinkbounc

Hi There,

We aren't driving...but we are going to the US for cheaper flights. Both this August and October we are flying AC from Halifax to Boston and then getting cheaper flights from there. You might want to check out that option depending on how many of you there are. There was only 2 of us.

Hi! We are flying from Bangor next Wednesday. It was much cheaper for us than flying from home- Fredericton. By booking in November we got a sweet deal with Song.

Good luck for a great fare! :flower:

We're soooooooo tempted to do this - problem is, we're traveling in February, and it would be a 10 hour dirve for us.

Not our idea of "ideal start to a wonderful vacation"!!

That being said, HOWEVER!! if rates don't move, we might have to look at it..AA has some great rates - for 4, our dates, they're running in the $1500CDN range..AC and WJ are sitting at $2500...I'd rather spend the $120 in gas, leave the van at a friend's, and stay at the Bangor Econolodge for $50CDN...

...but February weather ...*sigh*

Sooo, we checked aeroplan..availability for two..hmmm so, how much $$wise does it cost to fly the same routing for the other two, you ask??

$2000CDN for 2 :earseek: :earseek: plus all those points...

So at this point, it's take our chances, and book Canjet...or wait and watch AC, WJ, CA, Delta, adn United, and hope for a sale....

PIXIE DUST, pleas!! LOL!!

:sunny:

Are you talking about $550 per person? Have you checked with Canjet? We purchased 3 return tickets for Dec 3-10 from Halifax for a total of 1377, Canadian of course. They only seem to fly once a week though. We are flying down on a Saturday and returning the following Saturday.

We drove from halifax twice to bangor to save on airfareThere is four of us so the saving really added up. We flew delta both times and stayed at the sheraton airport for 69 per night and left the van there for free(park and fly)
both times we saved over 1000 dollars minus the hotel and gas and meals-well worth it

Yep...plus taxes for our dates...works out to LOTS$$$

We looked at Canjet too...once/week out of YHZ ..problem is, if there's an "extreme" weather delay - like there would have been last year on our travel date - they'll "gladly refund our money at the airport, where you are free to make arrangements with another carrier."

Unfortunately, they don't work with other carriers to assure carriage of passengers....which is why AC or WJ would be our first transportation options..

At least we could depart a day earlier - which is what happened last year. Big blizzard was on it's way, we made for the airport, and got on the last flight to YYZ...spent the night, and took our scheduled flight that afternoon - while 3+ feet of snow got dumped on YHZ. :teeth:

So we wait, watch, and feverishly check every search engine known for cheap flights!!

I have also been watching YHZ flights and they are outrageous! We paid around $400 per person the last two years and they are over $600 per person now. I was hoping WestJet would be more reasonable but the rates are still really high. I did check airmiles and I can get 3 tickets and purchase 1 but it will still cost us $1300--seems a bit high but I might do it. Let's keep watching and hoping!! :flower:
