question for florida residents

We are from Ohio and are staying at the Poly in April, my sister and her husband moved to Florida in July. We would love to see them, however, they cannot afford a hotel such as the Polynesian. How much of a discount do Florida residents get?? I called Disney and asked if they stayed at a value resort or moderate resort, could they still hang out at the polynesian w/ us and use the poly pool, they said absolutly, your guest is our guest, as long as they are staying on disney property. So I'm wondering if they could afford to stay on disney property w/ a florida resident discount. Also, how do they go about doing so? Thank you for any help.

No one but your sister can answer this question. Only they know what type of income they have. The best and really only way to answer this question is to have them call Disney, ask for the resort prices with the Florida resident discount and then do the math

The reason I wanted to get an idea on the cost is because I know what they could afford, and at the regular rate they could not manage it. Just wondering what the discount for Florida resident is approx., I called Disney and he couldn't tell me, he said they are not out yet for that far ahead and he would not speculate as to what they were. So, really no help, I'm just wondering if it is 10% or as high as 50% or like 3%, I have absolutely NO idea.

I really don't know the answer, but I went on mousesavers to get a general idea. For example, for Oct to Dec 2005, the Value resorts have a Florida resident rate of $64 during value season and $84 during regular season. If you calculate it, it comes out to about 15% off, roughly.

I don't know if that is standard, but just to give you an idea...

If your sister has access to the net, she can go online at the offical Disney site & look up the rates. You can also, just put in her zip code. You just shouldn't book it for her, the primary name (booking person) must be the resident.
