Question for FIRST TIME Cruisers Only

Thanks ZooMommy....I already printed that book and that's basically the one that made it all sound so confusing ;) . It makes the cruise sound so crowded & hectic and I have to admit, I'm still not sure if a cruise is for us.

LOL! DisneyLisa, that book DOES have a heck of a lot of details; I gave up on it and passed it on to DH and told him, "YOU like details, YOU read this and write down what I need to do. Other than that, I'm NOT touching it!"

And what a great idea about an annual mom/daughter trip.... you've just given me an idea!!! :smooth:

I know the adult pool & beach at CC is for ages 18 & over but would anyone give us a hard time if we went there (DD will be 15)...I love children (I have 3 of my own) but there are times when we're on vacation when we (DD included) like a more peaceful setting. Would this be a problem (she could probably pass for near 18 anyway ?
While I am not one who usually says forget about the rules, I'm guessing that the age limitation is based on differences in behavior expectations. I'd bet it wouldn't be a problem at the pool or on Castaway Cay if your daughter behaved more like an adult than a child. That said, I'm laughing at myself because adults of all ages often behave outlandishly child-like.

I booked our first cruise after a friend at work returned from her cruise and raved about how wonderful it was!
I called a TA that evening and booked our first cruise.
I guess the Disney name sells itself, I never doubted a thing.
When I finally found this site and a brochure, I was hooked.

I too booked on the rave reviews of a friend. I did get a brochure first, even booked a 4 day, then canceled it and booked a 7 day. So may questions still remained after reading the brochure, like better parts of the ship, dinner time preferences and why, packing list etc. What I really wish is that I'd found these boards before booking! I would have booked my own air, and avoided a plane change/lay-over that comes with DCL air from Denver. <-- something the TA and brochure don't tell you about.
Bless these boards.

That depends on who your TA is! ;) As I said, my advice to clients is first the DCL brochure, web site and video, then directly to the DIS before ever booking! But I view the DIS as an INDISPENSIBLE SUPPLEMENT to the DCL info - not as a replacement, because a) It is DCL's product they are purchasing, and what DCL says they will provide for the money is all they are "obligated" to give. b) DCL can always change their offerings at their discretion as long as they state it in their materials. and c) I had one client who had stumbled upon the DIS before they came to me to "find out more and see about booking." The guy had read SO MUCH on the DIS that he was really confused . . too many pages of conflicting opinions about what to do or not do. Hey - We ALL agree that the DIS is FANTASTIC or we wouldn't be here. I was just soliciting comments on whether or not first time cruisers had seen and read the brochure prior to booking. Thanks!
