Ok here is my plan. 3 nights OKW in oct booked. 7 nights BLT in feb booked. 4 nights at hopefully AKV in july. not booked yet.

We (my DH especially) doesn't want to go commando on the parks for all of these trips. DH really wants to slow down and rest some. Very stressful jobs at home. Own own business and he can't leave it at work.

Would it be better for us to get AP's or to try to buy just MYW tickets before each trip? I enjoy the parks but would like slower pace myself. Any suggestions??

I'm no expert, but I would go go for the AP. The AP cost with DVC discount is $369.00, which is the approx price of a 7-day non-expiring MYW. So, you can go to the parks everyday of your 3 trips for the same cost as only 7. Plus, you never know, if you happen to make a 4th trip within the year, you'll be covered ticket wise.

I think the AP will give you more versatility. Even if you are not planning on going to the parks everyday of your visits, the AP would give your the option if you just decide to pop into a park to eat or watch Illuminations.

Plus, I think there are some additional discounts you can get with an AP

The AP would be your best bet since you are staying 14 nights... actually it could be a total of 17 days use of the AP. We always arrive early on our first day, dump luggage at bell services and enjoy a look around the parks to see what is new. Also we leave late on our departure day to enjoy a breakfast or do something that we forgot to do..(usually a trip to Downtown shopping).

If you know you are not going to go in the parks every day, you could get the 10 day PH/WP non expiring tickets....remember they have disneyquest and water park days in addition to the 10 days in the parks...You could use these on future trips, or as alternatives to the parks...stretching your days out. We do that for our kids since they dont come down with us as often as we go. Recommend mapleleaftickets.com for the 10 day passes...better than disney prices by about 10%.

Buy your AP to start on the arrival of your first visit...then plan another trip before the year runs out on it !!!

Have a blast!

I once read on here to always get an AP. They said you never know if you'll go back again in the years time frame. We are going for the 2nd time in a year and I am sooo happy I got the AP. :goodvibes

The only reason to consider getting a 10daynon-expiring pass is if you do as you say and not go to the parks that often. SO I think the question you need to ask is how often will you go. Even if the answer is not very often you still need to think about whether it is worth it to save a few dollars but force yourslef now to not go often. Did that make sense? Hopefully I didn't confuse things more than was necessary.

The AP at $399 is your best buy.

It would cost you $279 @ the gate for a 3 day Park Hopper that expires & then you would need a 7 day that costs $296.

If you get the 7 day Park Hopper w/no exp. it would cost $413 @ the gate and a 10 day Park Hopper w/no exp. would cost $518 at the gate.

Maple Leaf tickets sell for a little less than @ the gate but a 10 day w/no exp. date would still cost $492.

Look at some discount websites & compare costs.

I really think you should get the AP. Good luck!

Friends & I stopped doing the commando thing a long time ago. With the AP, you have the freedom to go into a park just to see the fireworks or go to dinner at a favorite restaurant or even to stroll around the World Showcase and people watch (and pick up a favorite beverage along the way). You're not worried about "using up a day" just for a couple of hours.

We don't feel the need to be at a park for rope drop. We can have a leisurely breakfast somewhere or an early lunch and then decide what park to go to. If that park's too busy, we mosey over to another one (or not).

I vote for the AP

Thanks to everyone for their input! I really appreciate it. DH really wants to stop the commando thing and i do to. But i worry will we get our use out of the AP's. We love to Park hop though and the PP said. Luckily i still have a little time. Also, Would it be possible to buy one or two at a time since we would eventually need 4 total to help defray the cost of all of them at once? And then turn them in all at once? Another question. Oh well, will the questions ever stop?

Thanks to you all!!

Look at is this way, How many days in total do you want to go to the parks? You mentioned you already booked a 3 night & a 7 night and might add a 4 night. Out of the booked trips, how many days do you want to go to the parks? If you add the 4 night trip, how many days would you go to the park? Once you know how many days you need a ticket for, then look up the price of the ticket.

I'm not sure what you mean by your second question. Are you asking about MYW tickets or AP?

Please feel free to ask as many questions as you need. WDW is a big expense & you should try to get the best deal whenever possible.

I'm sorry, Starting to get really tired and need to go to bed soon. The last question was about buying AP's. Can you buy one or two at a time - get vouchers or Will calls and get the others at a later time and pick them up all at the same time?

I've been staying up way to late on these boards when i need to be sleeping lol. This will be me in the am.:surfweb: trying to wake up to start work.

I just renewed my AP's today. The CS said she'd mail me a voucher & I just have to take them to any ticket window (will call). I told her I'll be down on Saturday & she said in that case I just have to take my confirmation # to will call & pick up my tickets.
AP's are def. the way to go. Like OP's have stated u can do lunch in one park & see the Fireworks @ MK or go to Epcot. Last trip DH & I went to HS just to see two shows & to have lunch @ the Brown Derby. Then that night we went to MK for "Wishes". One day I went to Epcot by myself just to see the flower show. DH went to AK. We have gotten our money's worth from the AP's

I found this on another WDW fourm & thought it might help you.:

I have heard that I can upgrade my MYW ticket to an AP or PAP and get full credit for the original purchase price even after I have used a few days admission. Is this true?

Yes it is. If you decide that you want to upgrade it to an AP/PAP, you will get full credit for the price of the ticket towards the AP/PAP. All MYW tickets must be upgraded within 14 days of first use. In all cases, the AP/PAP will be backdated to the date the hopper pass was first used. Tickets purchased prior to MYW tickets can still be upgraded but must be completely unused to do so. But beware: If you get a MYW ticket with the Water Park Fun & More option and use one of the WPF&M admissions before doing this, you will only be allowed to upgrade to a PAP.

Yes, you can buy one or two AP's at a time through Member Services. They will mail you a voucher which you redeem at guest relations at the park entrances or DTD.

We decided on the AP because we then could purchase the TIW (Tables in Wonderland) dining card to save 20% off meals. The TIW card and AP makes it so nice to go to a park for dinner, after spending the day at the pool.
