I posted my first item on ebay last night. I set up a pay pal account so I could use that as form of payment so I wouldn't have to deal with personal checks or money orders thru the mail. wouldn't you know it, first thing this morning there's a question on the item. "I don't have paypal, can you accept my personal check?":rolleyes1

How do I answer this politely as I know the question shows on the listing.
The item already has 3 watchers so I believe it will probably sell without this buyer. What would you do?:rolleyes1

Did you say Paypal only in your listing? If so, I would just respond with a "no, as stated in the listing, only Paypal is accepted."

It is also now Ebay policy that Paypal is the only form of payment protected and accepted. Just state that you can only accept Paypal and leave it at that.

"Thanks for your inquiry, but the only form of payment I accept is Paypal."

Then post your answer and the question for other buyers to see. That way, the other watchers know you have interest and only accept Paypal.

I never accept a personal check. Once in a great while I'll accept a money order, but It has to be exact amount (none of that "here's more than the price, just send back the difference" scams) and I let them know I won't ship for 7 business days.

It comes down to the feedback. If they have a high count with 99% or higher positive rating, I'll accept the money order.

Again though, never a personal check.

OP - If you are new to selling on eBay, I suggest that you read and understand all selling rules very carefully. It will save you a lot of grief later.
