Question for DVCers!! Help!

So if I own at BCV and I love it there and I only want to stay there. If I buy points at SSR. Can I book at BCV at 11 months (with BCV points), than at 7 months cancel the BCV reservation and imediately rebook the same room (at BCV) with SSR points????

I think anyone on the waitlist would get the ressie first.

You would not be allowed to do that if there's a waitlist. If there's not a waitlist, you can do it. You could also go on the waitlist with your SSR points, if it comes up you can cancel the reservation with the BCV points.

This method can work if you plan ahead and do day by day reservation at 7 months. You also need to be prepared to use the waitlist day by day as well. But as noted above, you can't just sub the SSR points in the BCV reservation without canceling and risking the wait list. But even done correctly, there are some that feel this method is unethical and should not be allowed. To me, it's he way the rules are set up so no need to feel bad if anyone does complain about it.

OK get this!! We just called our DVC Sales Agent. He says that we can do this just fine. No need to worry about waitlist.

I'm sure he's saying the same thing in a different way. We've all said it's possible within certain guidelines. And DVC has substituted points in the past that effectively did what you're asking. They never were supposed to be doing so and made an effort to stop this a few years ago. But in part it depends on who you get on the phone. And as noted, if there is no wait list, the effect is the same.

If you get the answer from MS that you can simply sub points and bypass the wait list, you better make the change while on the phone because that is not the way the rules are written nor MS policy.
