Do you pay cash for places that you get a DVC discount for??

I just realized that our one reservation at Restaurant Marrakesh gives us a 20% discount for being DVC members :cool1:
When on the DDP do you usually pay attention to those DVC Discounts?
We are getting AP's too, seems like discounts coming from everywhere!! I don't want to miss anything (I'm sure I am over planning :rotfl2: )

Also I have been looking at them on the members website, do they give us anything when we check in that tell us all our discounts???

It looks like we'll be at WDW the same time! You should get a copy of Portable Perks when you check in. It gives you an idea of discounts available. It also doesn't hurt to ask wherever you go. The last time We were there, we just showed DVC card, AP, and Disney credit card and asked which gave the best discount. Apparently lots of people do the same!

When you use DDP, the discounts don't mean much unless you are saving table service credits for a signature. We have the DDE card with our AP, so if we are short a night because of doing a signature, we will just take the DDE discount, since it is usually bigger than any of the DVC or AP discounts.

Thanks, I will definitly look through the portable perks booklet

We try to at least one signature dinner per trip, and only one charecter meal (I figure when we go with our kids, we will do lots ;) )
But the signature meal does leave us one TS short.

I really like sit down meals, I can't wait till 2008 to use the new dining plan that has more TS credits!!

Just remember, the DDE discount is only after you pay $60 for the DDE card. If you're doing to save 20% on one meal and don't plan to be back within the year or don't plan on eating $360 worth of OOP meals if you do come back, don't get the card.

I always use the DVC discount at non DDP participating restaurants lke HOB, Foulton's etc. I do not think the DDE is worth it because I have to spend too much before I hit a breakeven point. I may rethink the DDE for July--if I decide I want to eat on site, but right now the 2008 plan is not something we will use and I think just the DVC discounts will be enough for the places we'll go on site. We plan on a lot more off site dining for 2008 as a result of the DDP changes.
