Question for DIS ladies.. regarding nails...

Linen wraps here.....the down is you have to go for fill-ins.
Polish does last much longer including French manicures.

Question for you NeverEnoughWDW...do they top your linen wraps with a coat of acrylic? I grew my nails out over a year from a few rounds of acrylic, and finally found someone here who did linen wraps. But I was surprised that she topped the linen with a layer of acrylic. I have since given up and I get pink & white acrylic, it's widely available here. Of all the things I miss since moving, my nail lady ranks right up there. :(

They put a very thin layer of nail glue...then buff the heck out of them.

I've had it done like this for 4 years & have been very happy. I also like that my nails are "thin" & natural. I don't like when tips & acrylics look thick.

That's what my nail girl in CT did. No dremel, no nail ridges. I moved to NJ a few years ago and can't find anyone here who does linen properly. I do love that with the pink and white I can go digging in my purse immediatley after the manicure and not wreck anything. But my natural nails have taken a beating.

Don't mean to hijack the thread OP! :)

any sort of "fake" nails. I had acrylics, silk wraps, gels....all of them. And every darn one of them will completely WRECK your own natural nails. There is simply no effective way to remove them without taking off layers of your nails. When I stopped doing them, it took (no exaggeration) nearly a year to get my natural nails to look even 1/2 ways decent. They looked horrible, and were prone to easy tearing, splitting etc. I had to wear them super short to prevent that (or at least try to).

I will NEVER do that again. It's just not worth it. Get a good manicure, buy the polish that matches and just touch them up.

I would also caution against acrylic nails. I let my salon "talk" me into them a couple of months ago and never again! They looked nice but for some reason they bothered me and I couldn't wait for them to take them off. They shave your nail down with a dremel tool and then put the acrylic powder/gel on and then you put them under a UV lamp to harden. They were very thick and hard and I didn't like them at all-maybe because I wasn't used to them? My nails are a disaster now and have been for about 2 months. You can see the indentation of my nail bed where they shaved it down and my nails feel paper thin and I have to worry about catching them on something and ripping too short. It's taking a long time for them to grow out-hopefully in another couple of months they will be back to normal.
