I had contacts a number of years ago and recently decided to go back to them. After trying several different pairs to find one that was comfortable, I got the Baush and Lomb Soflens. The eye doctor said they are the thinest lenses out there. I have been having a problem with my eyes drying out during the day and in most cases, the rewetting drops just seems to bother my eyes more than they offer relief. When I take the contacts out, one lens almost constantly rolls up like a taco!! :earseek: Not old lens either. I put a new pair in on Friday night and come Saturday, one rolled up so tight, even soaking it overnight didn't help. :confused3 I spent 45 min getting it open, only to have it roll up again when I took it out. I gave up and grabbed a new lens. Well the second one rolled up just now...and it's not budging. :rolleyes1

Does anyone else have this problem? Any clue how to keep this from happening again? I never had this problem with the "old" contacts lenses of the 80's and early 90's.

How fustrating, you must just have naturally dry eyes. I also wear Baush and Lomb Soflens and if I wear them too long they tend to stick to my eyes. But I have never had them roll up.

I would have suggested drops, but you already tried that. Therefore I think it is time to go back to the eye doctor. This is not normal.

I'm defective...I have chronic dry eye syndrome. It makes wearing contact lenses very uncomfortable and cancels your ability to have LASIK. I hope you are not like me!

That being said, the contact lenses I'm prescribed are Extreme H2O. They are the lenses with the highest wetting stuff in them and hold the moisture the longest. Maybe try these? :confused3

I only have that sort of problem if I allow myself to get dehydrated. Do you drink plenty of water? You may just have naturally dry eyes.

Have you thought about switching your saline solution? I actually was using B&L's no rub solution and thought it was okay. Then I switched to Target's version and had no issues. I ran out and used a small travel bottle I have of B&L no rub and sure enough I had issues keeping my contacts in and not having them dry out. I'm back to the cheapy off brand since it seems to be better for my eyes.

Also during allergy season I have issues no matter what.

I take mine out in the afternoons usually and rewet them/wash them, it seems to do the trick for me!

I have noticed that with my new contacts that they just dry out. I have been wearing contacts for 14 years and I have never had this much of a problem before. I have even tried a couple different brands and they all dry out so fast. I have started using a new solution (can't remember the name right now) and it helps a little, but I still have to take them out and re-wet them. If I put in eye drops, they don't seem to penetrate the contact at all.

That Target brand is the best solution! It is actually refreshing unlike other solutions I have used like Renu or B&L. And the price is right too!

Right now, I'm using the Opti Free. I do take them out during the day to rinse them off more than I use the drops to 'rewet' them. I did that even when I had contacts in high school. It's when I took them out today (around dinner time) that I had the lens roll up. After having it soak it solution for around an hour, then using tweeters, was I able to get it to unroll. I think I'll try changing solutions. I saw the target brand over the weekend and couldn't help but notice the price! Much more to my liking!! :sunny:

Tina, I never thought about drinking water (or should I say the "lack of water" ;) affecting my eyes. I don't drink a lot of water. I don't drink much of anything really. I used to have a problem with dehyrdating when I was pregnant. :rolleyes1

That sounds like quite a pain! I wear gas permeable lenses, so I can't offer any advice.

Not really. As long as the stupid lens doesn't roll  , I can have them out and back in again in seconds. :)

I work for an Ophthomologist, and all I can say is - wait for the first hard freeze, and it will be much easier to wear them. 10 minutes before you put in your lenses you could put some allergy drops in your eyes and then see if they stay moist longer or not. It didn't do it for me, so I wear glasses until November!

I must say I do notice a difference in the fall and winter ~ the dry air from air conditioning makes my lenses much drier. I did switch to Renu MoistureLoc solution, and found that helped as well.

Hmmm, allergies. Never thought of them. I have allergies pretty bad in the spring and fall. In fact, this last week (when this stupid contact-turns-taco nonsense started  ), I've had to take allergy medicine in the morning first thing because I'm so stuffy and my eyes are all gooey. Maybe it's doing more than drying out my sinuses...It could be drying out my eyes too. :confused3

I can't wear my contacts during spring and summer because my eyes are so dry thanks to allergies and allergy medication (that stuff really does dry you out- not just your sinuses!)

The bonus to this is that a 1yr prescription for disposables actually lasts me 2 yrs ;)

Allergies can do it for you. I do have more trouble during certain seasons.

Honestly I hated Opti-free and read some not so good reviews on it and how it can break down contacts as time goes on.

jbdreamer, I agree... that price for the Target brand is awesome! I will *never* switch back to anything that is as costly as the B&L or Renu
