Oh my how we are soooo protective of our home resort ,,
Just kidding --I can't even decided which home resort would be the best for me ,,I swear this decision is one of the hardest I've ever made.
I do know though once I make up my mind that I'll be one of those "my resort is the BEST people. "

Can someone recap what is the current incentive that is being offered?
I live in Niagara Falls, Ontario and I am planning to join DVC in August, but haven't make up my mind buying direct or resale yet.

I believe right now you can get bonus points. So if you buy 200 you would get an extra 200 points to use right away. You can't bank them and you have to use them by the end of the year. From Ontario you can definately call a guide and ask them.

They are doubling the developer's points right now for AKV. So if you bought 200 they will give you 400 DP. These DPs have to be used within 7 months and can not be banked as bbangel already noted.

You can make this choice or $8, I think that figure is correct, off the price. They doubled the DPs because so many people took the second option and they now have lots.

I would think that SSR would be different.

Say you wanted a UY (use year) in September and buy 160 now. And they have that UY available. Well they would probably give you 06' points for September and 160 would come again September 1st (for 07 UY). They ignore banking rules for new contracts (for the 06' points). So you would have 320 points that are regular points and can be banked or used.

AKV doesn't have this extra bonus because it is not built (ie. two years of points at the same time).

Though if you are planning a trip in the not so distant future double the AKV DPs is nice too.

Hi Chesters mom I'm going to suggest you head over to the DVC (Disney Vacation Board )and read read read --so much info to learn then post post post --the people there have a ton of info and good advise.,,,then buy buy buy.
I thought I knew so much from the tour and dvd but there is so much more that can help you plan and be an informed buyer.
In March I went down and took the tour again and went for a visit to 4 of the 7
DVC resorts .I really got a feel for where I want my home resort to be . I came back posted more questions -researched threads and contacted the Timeshare store and each day they email me new listings avaliable.

But I couldn't wait any longer, offered on a 60 point contract at BWV just yesterday through the timeshare store. It's the only way I could afford to buy in, financing luxuries doesn't feel good to me, so I needed to have a price I could afford to pay up front. Wish me luck with ROFR.

Oohh good luck. That wait is a killer. I just faxed my closing documents in today. Now just have to send money (I keep hoping the dollar will go higher!)

Just had to post to wish you good luck - we've been waiting for word on ROFR for a 60 point SS contract since last week so I know how you feel!

Good luck to you!! We think buying DVC has been the best thing for us! We are on our 2nd trip this year, with the dicount on the AP it was wonderful! We have never had two big trips in one year before, but with DVC our dreams are coming true GO DOLLAR GO !!
