I've never done black friday so please bear with me.

My daughter picked an angel from the angel tree at her gym for a young girl. The number one wish list is a girls 16 inch bicycle. 2nd gift was a pair of sunglasses and 3rd gift was a toy helicopter.

I've been pricing bikes and they are more than I had expected. Does anyone know of a store that will have bikes on sale on black friday?

Check the ads, but I am not certain if I would worry about doing Black Friday for a bicycle. There will be plenty out there and not much of a discount for bikes (traditionally).

Wal-mart had decent prices for decent bikes last year in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

I saw some bikes in the leaked Black Friday Kmart ad. Good luck and what a wonderful thing you are doing!!!

thanks I was hoping to stay under 50. I am really trying to stick to a budget this year.

I think it's a wonderful thing that your family is doing. I just want to add if you do choose to purchase the bike, you might want to consider a lock and helmet. Or if your daughter can find out if the girl has those items. Just something to think about.

My tips....
-Check flyers the night before on who has the best prices
-Check what times does doors open
-Be there when when the doors open for "door crasher" specials to avoid dissappointment.

Not much different than getting on a DCL cruise.

Go INTO TRU now. And see what's on clearance at the store. Got a brand new bike for our son for 30% off a few years ago. The exact one he wanted. (He'd seen it in larger sizes and didn't think he was big enough for it so in Christmas morning, he didn't think it was for him... We got so lucky that year!)

Op your going to make me cry.:goodvibes

I got to help pick out an angle tree bike while working at target one season. It was heart breaking. The woman buying the bike just got her first real job after growing up poor and never had a new bike as a child to single mom. It was her childhood xmas desire she never asked for.

She was crying, I was crying all the way from toy dept to her car.

I wished her merry christmas. we hugged and she told me she is going to do this every christmas for as long as she lives.

Op do this if you can.

My 6 year old DD was eyeing up some bikes at Walmart yesterday. I'm pretty sure they were 49.97 or some random number like that. I know in years past we have gotten really cheap bikes at Walmart Black Friday and it was one of the few things they still had when I got around to getting there (sleep wins out over crowds). The bikes we got my stepdaughter years ago are now being used by DD so they don't fall apart instantly.

OP, it's wonderful that you want to purchase a bike for your "Angel". Make sure you find out the particulars as far as budget. We participate in a similar program at our office and the kids all have a party and open their gifts together. A lot of the children ask for necessities, and it's heartbreaking to see kids open up their socks and underwear and one child gets a bike.

We have done bikes for angel tree in the past and had good luck with Walmart and Target Black Friday.

:worship: Awesome thing you're doing! We do the Angel Tree every year!

The Walmart ad that was in today's paper has a 16 inch Barbie bike for $59, which is a rollback from $79.97.

Toys R Us has this one for $49.99:

Thank you for this link. So here is my funny story about this purchase. I actually needed a BOYS bike- my daughter picked the angel from the tree and I just assumed she picked a girl (she always has in the past). So I went and purchased the GIRL'S bike brought it home and expected to take it to the gym tonight. I get the wish list off of the frig and then I see the gifts are for a BOY. So back to Toys R Us with the girls bike. I ended up getting a boys bike for the same price and I was able to use a 15% off coupon bringing the price down and I lucked into finding a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Helmet for 7.98 on clearance regular price was 19.99.

My husband and I had a good laugh about my mistake and couldn't imagine what a disappointment it would have been for the 5 year old to receive a girl's bike on Christmas morning. So I am delivering a blue bike and a pretty cool helmet this Christmas.

Yay! Glad you got one. And the RIGHT one. :)

Toys R Us has a 15% off coupon good today, Nov. 14th - Sunday Nov. 16th. That may help.
