I have a digital camera and have been looking into getting some picture cards for it. This is my first camera and do not know what these things run. I saw an auction on ebay for 3 new 8 mb compact flash cards. It is an opening bid of $12 or buy it now for $22.00. Is this a good deal? How many photos would each card hold? Thanks for any help!!:bounce:

I'd buy it new unless you can get those cards at the minimum bid.

You can buy a 64MB card for somewhere around $40 (or less)

As far as what they will hold, it depends on the resolution of your camera and the quality of picture you are taking. Try seeing what your camera holds with the memory card that came with it and extrapolate it to a higher amount of memory for an estimate. :)

I wouldn't buy 8 MB cards. With my camera, I'd get maybe 12 photos on one.

You can get a 256 MB card for $95 or so now (check out buy.com or ecost.com). MUCH better deal. They've all been coming down in price, though.

I would try here www.newegg.com

I got a 128mb compact flash card for $50 shipped..it is new and it is a Samsung brand name one. That included Fedex shipping and everything. They had great service! I have found the price on Ebay can be crazy!

Hope this helped! :D :D

I would stay away from the 8mb cards, they simply don't hold enough pictures. I would go for at least a 64mb or more.

1) there are 4 or 5 types of memory so get the right stuff for you camera. (smart media, compact flash types I and II, memory stick, MMC, SD and the new one Olympus and Fuji just anounced)

2) 8 meg cards are to small to bother with

3) Good advice and tips above.

Thanks for the advice!!!:) I want to get some kind of extra memory for the camera before we go to the shore for a family reunion over Labor Day....but I REALLY want to get some serious storage space before we go to Disney!! (4 months from right now, I will be happily roaming FW!!):p

What camera do you have?
What type of memory does it use?
What is its highest resolution?
Do you intend to print your pictures or just post them on the web?
We can advise you much better if we know the answer to those questions. But, as everyone has said, in any case 8mp is just too small.

I have a Kodak DC 3200. It uses a CompactFlash memory card. It has 1,152 x 864 pixels in "low compression" in the best setting, 1,152 x 864 in "high compression" in the better setting and 576 x 432 in the good setting. I want to use the best setting in Disney as there will be more pictures that I want to have a "picture" of, normally I store them on disk. (of course, I'll more than likely be sharing some of my disney pictures with everyone here!!;) ) I also email pictures to family far away. I was thinking of getting 2 64 mps before the trip. Think that will be enough?
