Question for anyone who has used AAA packages

I last booked a AAA package in 1994 but I am thinking about maybe booking a package with AAA this time to take advantage of the AAA Preferred Fireworks Viewing Location, Disney's Story Time Experience, AAA Vacation Diamond Card and Diamond Parking.
My question: is AAA like Dreams where they always look for a better deal? don't want to book AAA and then have a 40% discount code come out again ( I know very unlikely) or free dining for our dates and be stuck with my 10% or 20% AAA discount.

if you book with AAA and a better discount comes out you can have AAA apply it to your reservation. I hope this helps!

Yep that's what I did. I set up my original ressie with AAA, then when Free Dining came out I asked them to call Disney and get the Free Dining package instead of the AAA room only discount. Then when the AoA LM rooms became available, I called them one more time to get the hotel changed from ASMovies to AoA!

The frustration is that you can't just call Disney directly and immediately make the change... even if the pricing and everything else matches what's in Disney's system. If you choose to go through a travel professional, and not directly through Disney, you can't make any changes directly through Disney - even though they can call up your reservation in their system.

But tell me about this AAA viewing area for fireworks! I haven't heard of that! We did go through our AAA agent, just not with a AAA room only discount. Would this still apply?

You have to be on the lookout for the deals yourself, however. They wont be on the lookout for you.

If a deal comes along, you'll need to give your AAA TA all of the information (pin #, etc.) and the AAA TA rebooks the deal through disney.

We used AAA last year to go to WDW. We booked a free dining package with them. The viewing area for the fireworks was just okay. It was located just in front of the Plaza Restaurant. It is a roped off area and you need to show a voucher (which AAA would give you) to go in.

The reason we didn't like it all that much was because it is right next to a smoking area (we don't smoke). That kind of ruined it for us. Also, there are lights surrounding the area that they do not turn off during Wishes. I have no idea why considering the rest of the park goes dark. I didn't enjoy trying to see the fireworks past the lights. It kind of took away from it.

However, if you don't mind the smoking, it is probably worth it. It isn't at all crowded like the rest of the park is during Wishes.

Did you book a package? If so, you get a voucher in your documents for a special Wishes viewing area, as mentioned by PP. It can be booked 180+10, same as ADRs. Don't wait to book it if you want it because space is very limited.

You can call WDW directly to book the area, or call your AAA agent and have them do it for you. If you are going during a special event (MNSSHP, MVMCP), keep in mind that Wishes won't be shown during those events, so no viewing area is available on those special party nights.

HTH :goodvibes

My sister-in-law just booked through AAA (and is a AAA employee). She asked about the fireworks viewing area and was told they only have a certain amount of vouchers to give out. She is traveling in August and was told that they were out of vouchers for her travel dates.
If a discount comes along, AAA can change your reservation for you, but you can't "double dip" and get the AAA discount and the Disney discount. You only get one discount.
