Did it take you a long time to feel better again? I was confirmed with it on Nov. 6th, I had Tamiflu and zithromax for secondary bronchitis. It's now Dec. 1st and I still feel tired, achy now and then, and a bit of a lingering cough. I saw my dr. two weeks ago and she told me it can make you feel ill for a while - I'm just wondering what 'a while' is and if anyone else took longer than you expected to recover fully? Thanks.

I got sick on oct. 30. I took Tamiflu and augmentin for my sinuses. I was sick for ten full days, but stil have some lingering sinus problems and a bit of a cough. It is getting better but really slowly. My Dr. said it is tending to linger. I have never been sick this long. We leave for wdw on Friday and I'm hoping it is almost over. Good luck to you!

I got sick on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday), started on Tamiflu the next day, and by Sunday, I started feeling a bit better, and am feeling a bit better each day.

My dd and her husband have had it also (I actually caught it from my dd). They both got Tamiflu and that same antiobiotic for bronchitis, and they are gradually feeling better, at about the same pace as I am. My dr. did not give me an antibiotic for bronchitis, because he said it was viral, and antibiotic would not help.

My dd ran a fever one night, around 101.5. I had a fever also, for one night, around 100.5, so not high fevers, but enough to make us feel crummy.

I think the worse thing about it has been the coughing. I've read it usually takes 2-3 weeks to get over bronchitis.

I do have to say, I was not tested for H1N1, so I'm assuming that's what I had. There's always a chance I could have had seasonal flu.

Hope you feel better!!!

I haven't had H1N1, but about 7 years ago I had the seasonal flu--twice! The first bout in Jan. and the second bout in early March. I developed pneumonia after both bouts. I never really got well after the first bout of flu, so when I got it again(I had both type A & type B influenzas) I was already pretty low. It took me over 4 months, well into April-May before I had my stamina back.

Got sick on 10/17. To dr twice -- once late that week for several breathing treatments, and sent home with antibiotics, prednisone, plus inhaler. To another dr several weeks later for another breathing treatment, another course of prednisone and another inhaler. Here we are on 12/1. I still get SUPER short of breath, lungs ache if I walk up a flight of steps (thank goodness there are none in my house, lol). It kind of feels like I just ran 2 miles on a bitingly cold day. It IS improving, just very slowly. I wonder what my lungs looked like inside while I was first ill!

I was sick in July with what I believe was some sort of FLU. They assume H1N1 because it was "too early (or late) for seasonal flu". Before it was over I had pnemonia and here it is 12/1 and I still feel rather crappy and still cough crap outta my lungs. I was supposed to the WDW 1/2 in jaunary but am passing on it. There is no way these lngs are ready for that. :(

DH had it (he has asthma). He was on Tamiflu and a RX cough medicine.
He was sick for 2 weeks. Had a cough for about a week longer than that (other than the one he always seems to have). Woke up one morning and felt all better.

Thanks for the replies. I've had the flu before, but I've been getting flu shots for years now and I haven't had it in a long, long time. This flu felt different to me, just feeling like crap for a long time. I feel better knowing that it's not just me, and that others are taking longer to feel completely well too. Hope everyone gets well and stays well :thumbsup2

I was out of work from Tuesday-Sunday- I went back on Monday so I was out a total of 6 days- I was tired for 2 days at work though. My daughter on the other hand felt bad for 2 days then she was up and running as usual (still couldn't go to school but she was running all over the place!). Lady across the street from me has had it and felt bad for 3 weeks now so everyone is different!

I got sick on Halloween with the flu. Followed with strep and bronchitis. The dr said that it could take a month or longer to recover from the bronchitis. She gave me an inhaler for the wheezing and coughing and I'm still using it when needed. I bet it's the bronchitis that's making you still feel ill.

My whole family had it...my 2 DDs are fine. My DH and I are fine but still tire a lot easier than usual. I'm ready to go to bed by 9p and by 10p I'm exhausted...not normal for me. It's been a month since we had the flu....it hit us hard.

Hope you feel all better soon!

It's probably the bronchitis that has you still feeling blah. Your body can take quite a while to completely recover from bronchitis. I hope you feel better soon.

Definitely not just you! It took me weeks to get over it, and I thought the cough would never leave. It was followed up with a bronchial infection. Truthfully, it took me a couple of months to get through it. Hope you're better soon!
