I am also still very new to this and downloaded PI X3 to start with- I just today posted a Design I was finally happy with (and that actually looked like an acceptable design)
Look at MomEtc's post about Disigners Challenge- I posted an attempt there at trying the 2nd weeks challenge too- Nowhere near what all these great designers do but I wanted everyone to see how I was coming along to figure stuff out...
Long story short and to get to my point... Keep at it, don't get frustrated (I did) and let these great designers know when you need help- They have all been great, even the ones who don't use PI and that is the majority here I have found- Chaoscent is a PI user as well and she has a wealth of info she has also shared on the board here - I can't link to them (not sure how) but if you check back w/in the last 7 days or so you will find two different tuts specifically that helped me a lot- I am w/ you and am wanting to attempt the character names but I am giddy about what I finally accomplished and will get to that sooner or later- (I have 8 days of trial time left) So I will have to work fast and then on to another trial before I decide which specific program I will actually buy- Good Luck- If I can be of any help at all I will try - First tip I can give you is that the Free Trial does not give you all functions- I learned the hard way- But, there is still plenty you can explore and do-
