Question for a mod please

Not a Mod, but no they are not. They will be edited out of your post or the link removed completely if they can't edit and remove the affiliate part.

That's what I though but they seem to be allowing certain people to post them on the budget board so my next question is why do the rules not apply to everyone?

If the ones on the budget board are reported, they can be dealt with.

Usually they get edited out of the Budget board. (That's how I know the rule. :)) There are less Mods over there. You might have to click on the little triangle button in the thread to report the affiliate links, so the Mods will have an easier time finding and editing them. :magnify:

What are affiliate links? Like a link to a site that the Dis competes with?

Links in which, when you click on them and then buy something, the person (the affiliate) makes money off of your purchase, too. It's like a referral, where the referral makes money.

It's different than saying, "I just read this book that is fantastic, here's the direct link to some random site (like Amazon,) where you can read up on it, versus, here's a link (in which I get to make some money) if you buy it there.

It can take a while. Whenever I see spam on this board I report it. It can take like an hour before they get around to looking at it and removing it.

Plus, I think the main Mod over on the BB usually comes on late afternoons. Being the day before a holiday, she might be extra busy with her own stuff.

Oops sorry  I never realized TDC Nala was a mod and I missed that big MOD thing in her panel. I can admit when I'm wrong.

You should be reporting it on the Budget Board. The mod will then be able to take care of the issue.

I did report it on the budget board I used the report a post button that should take care of it but I've searched and found that the link/code realted to teh OP has posted in the past and has never been taken down even though people questioned it which is what leads me to believe that rules only apply to some. I'll cross post this on the budget board.

I would address your concerns to the moderator on that board. They would be the best person to ask their reasoning.

The rules apply to all. We do get a LOT of reported posts, and it may sometimes take a while to handle all of them.

The rule in this case is that we do not permit selling, advertising, or any use of the DISboards for personal gain. This means that referrals and the affiliate links you're asking about are not permitted.

And the fact that someone may see a post on our forums that violates our policies does not mean that we condone that post; it just means that we have not seen it. :)

Or maybe it's not an affiliate link?

I'm trying to figure out which one it is.... :)

It's the diapers.com post and the OP has admitted that she gets money from it.

Thank you Webmaster Kathy. I'm sure it'll be handle appropriatly. She took out her link but her code is still showing on other posts in the thread.

Thanks I would but I can't send PM's right now(not related to affiliate links). I just don't like to see people gain off of unsuspecting people and breaking the rules to boot.
