Question - costs when you make a change to your reservation

So, we leave on Sat and I'm just now looking at what I paid for this cruise. I know. Stupid to leave it so late, but I trusted DCL to get it right.

We have 2 rooms, one with 2 adults and the other started with 3 adults. We had placeholders + credits from our first cancelled cruise, so all this was convoluted.

We had to cancel one DS in the room with 3 adults, but he was the second on the reservation, so now we owed for the other DS, who was staying on the cruise. We had DS1's reservation refunded (and lost his credits) and then owed for DS2. We ended up using all the remaining credits and still owed $467 for the fare.

They quoted me the total for the room, but after 2 hours on hold with my TA and DCL, I just accepted their word on the cost of the room. Now, I'm looking at what I paid for the other room, which always had only 2 people in it. I've paid, apparently, $800 more for the room with the cancellation.

Does moving one passenger from the third spot in the same room to the second spot get charged at the going rate? I thought he would have been charged the rate for when the cruise was booked. That's the only thing that I can think happened, as well as they didn't apply the placeholder.

Should I call, even though it's only a few days until the cruise? That's a lot of money to waste on their error (and my naivete).

Oh, and we are driving, so, leaving tomorrow right after school. Not a lot of time to get this resolved if at all possible.

Has the cost of the room gone up since you booked? I think Disney's using current rates instead of at-time-of-booking rates, now. Otherwise, there's probably also a cancelation penalty, too.

The cost had gone up, but no one said there would be a change in price like that. We were outside our 60 day window, so there shouldn't have been a cancellation fee. And since my DS2 was actually on the cruise, it was really just his location in the hierarchy of the stateroom (and thus the cost) that changed. It's not like he changed rooms or was added to the cruise. We just owed because of DS1 cancelling. And we owed because they had to do a refund, rather than just apply the already paid fare to his brother.

Yes, I had the exact same change - went from 1 room of 4, added 2nd room with a new guest and moved one pax from room 1, then cancelled 2nd room and moved that original pax back to room 1. The pricing went up $500 even though we reverted to the original reservation. (I noticed when we made the change (February) and they did adjust it for us when we pointed it out.)
