Hi,

I have a question about camping at Disney World.

Is it for RV and tents; or just RVs? If you "tent" how secure is the area? I don't know that I would be comfortable leaving all my stuff in an unlocked tent.

Has anyone done this?

You might to ask in the camping forum, you will get a lot more answers. There are both RV and tents, at Fort Wilderness, I have never camped in a tent there, so I can't answer about security, but it is as secure as any other campgrounds.

It is as secure as any other campground. In all the years I have been camping we have never had a problem at Disney or any other campground. You are never going to be completely secure but don't tempt fate by leaving your valuables in plain site.

I have both tent and motorhome camped at FW and have never had a problem with security. Others have asked the same question on this board. I have told them the same thing. Do not lock your tent if someone wants to get in a knife will take care of that and lock any thing you feel is valuable in your car our take if to the front deck and have them lock it up for you. I would hate to tell you that it is secure and you have some thing taken. So just think before leaving any thing valuable lying around. Hope This Helps...

I agree with the other posters. I have tent camped there every year and have never had a problem. I fly and camp, so don't have a car to lock stuff up. I lock my laptop up at the front desk or lock it in my footlocker and lock the footlocker to a tree. I keep everything else valuable on my person. If someone grabs clothes, towels, etc., then so be it.

I also know someone that tent camps there every year and sets up several thousand dollars worth of toy monorail gear in his campsite and never has a problem with it. (It looks pretty cool. If anyone is there first week of December, be sure to wander by Loop 2000. It's a GREAT setup!)

The only theft problems I've read about on here, is someone had a utility trailer go missing out of the overflow parking lot up front.

Does anyone know of any photos online of the camping area?
Go to Webshots.com and search Fort Wilderness there are a few hundred. You can also checkout DisneyCampers.com or Tim's Fort Wildness FAQ site here

Edited to add: I just checked Webshots and there are over 1200 pics there now!

Awsome, Thanks.

I love camping, but it will have to wait until it's a little cooler here in Florida for me to go. :cool1:

Don't leave anything out that you wouldn't leave in your front yard.
We even leave our scooters out next to the tent and never had them taken. People camp there for a month at a time and have half thier lifes out on the clothes line or where ever. People don't go rummaging through your stuff because people are around all the time. People will notice things, and even if you're there for a weekend, you notice who your neighbors are. Plus disney security is around all the time.
When we go, we park our truck and not move it. Plus we bring along our window AC and leave it sitting on the tailgate. So everything in the back end of the truck bed is exposed.
Don't worry, enjoy your time, and be merry.
