Question-Booking with Continental Airlines.

We have always used a Canadian airline (AirCanada) to fly to Orlando, but considering the problems they are having, we have opted to book with a US carrier for our March break 2005 trip. Continental has an amazing price right now ($250.00 less than Air Canada) so we are considering booking in the next day or so.

Is there any advantage/disadvantage to booking with the airline directly as opposed to Expedia or travelocity? Also, I have read that some US carriers will give a travel voucher (credit) if the price drops, is this true (unheard of with Canadian carriers) with Continental.

Is Continental doing ok? I have read that Delta and US airways aren't doing too well financially, and where we are booking 10 months away, I am alittle nervous to book on an airline that I don't really know too much about.

Thanks for all the information.

Hi,Continental is a great airline and if you can get your ticket at a good price I would definitly go for it! The fares are due to keep on the increase because of gas prices.
Travelocity and Expedia are good for keeping an eye on airfares but I would go to the airline directly because Travelocity and Expedia tack on a $5.00 (usd) fee to each ticket purchased.
I do not know if Continental gives a credit if the airfare drops.
Maybe someone else can help you with that.
Happy Travels,
Debbie

The advantages are: you don't pay a booking fee, you are dealing directly with the airline, if the fare goes down you will have a much easier time getting it rebooked at a lower rate.

Thanks for the help. I just got off the phone with continental and was very happy with the service, and feel so much better talking to someone, instead of doing it over the internet. It actually worked out to a few dollars less (compared to the website)becuase of the exchange rate they used!! 10 months to wait...
