Hi Everyone,
I have been lurking and reading all of the wonderful posts for quite awhile now and finally decided to ask a question of my own.

What does everyone consider to be the best garden view choice of building at the Poly? We've booked a 5+2 for November 13-20, but were unsure about the best locale. This is our first trip to DW as a family so we want to make it the best we can! Any help will be greatly appreciated!

p.s. Great site Steve/tikiman!! I have learned quite a lot from it!! I grew up in California, so I have great memories of Disneyland too!!

Hi Chilis! Welcome to the DIS!

My sister, her family, and I stayed in Tokelau when we stayed at the Poly last year, and we thought it was a great location. We had a garden view room, but we were lucky enough to get one of the garden view room that had a sideways view of the lagoon--we could see the GF from our room.

Our room was about two or three minutes to the main building, the volocano pool, and the boat dock. It was maybe four minutes to the monorail, and seconds to the quiet pool and beach. The walk to the ticket and transportation center was about seven minutes. We walked to the T&TC several times to catch the monorail to Epcot, and it was very conveinent.

Have a great stay!

Highly recommend Samoa, 3rd floor, Volcano pool side view! We had it two weeks ago and in my opinion you could consider this lagoon view with a view of the castle!

Thanks for the info, Karen! I actually requested Tokelau on my reservation, so it looks like I may have made a good choice!!! We can't wait!!!!!!

I like Samoa. The view is of either one of the pools. Some people complain about noise, but I've never heard any significant noise from the pool area. The view is good and the location is very central.

When we were at the Poly last Nov., I requested Tokelau, but when we got there, they told us that they had no rooms available in Tokelau. We ended up in Tahiti which I liked because it was very near the TT & C which gave us easy access to the Epcot monorail. Also, none of the garden rooms faced a parking lot or anything--just the grounds. I felt that it was a good location.

My wife and I stayed in Tahiti last summer garden view - the view was not bad (trees and another building) but the best part was it was about a 3 minute walk to the TTC (ticket and transportation center) which made it very easy to get to the parks. The only down side to it is it is as far away from the great ceremonial house as you can be. Have a wonderful trip ! We can't wait until we are back there in just a few short weeks !!!:earsboy:

Thanks so much for all of the replies!! I continue to be amazed at just how many people look and post on this board!!!! Any more comments/ideas are certainly welcome. You all are the best, thanks!!

I really like "figi" 3rd floor marina view! Its a water view at garden prices. ;) You are facing the volcano (back side) and the boat dock. you get to watch all the marina activity. You are steps from the great ceremonial house and monorail! The main pool is only on the otherside of the marina & a very short hop. ::yes:: You can see 1/2 of the lake & part of the EWP @ nite. :teeth: :earseek: Also a good view of the CR tower. Its far enough away to be quiet and close not to have to walk too far. We had GREAT mousekeeping, and the rooms where in great shape. Overall, my favorite longhouse.

My order starting with the best would be:

1. Tokelau - larger room, balconies on the second and third floor and great location next to the pool and about half way between the TTC and GCH with the beach on one end and the bus stop and arcade on the other. Best part is you could get a view of the castle and fireworks if you are down on that end of the building.

2. Samoa – possible view of the lagoon (not the castle) and a pool on each side.

3. Fiji – Nice view of Luau cove on one side and the marina on the other

Tie for 4. Aotearoa – monorail view or partial lagoon view
Rarotonga – view of the East Pool (aka quiet pool) or a view of the monorail.

Tie for 5. Rapa Nui and Garden side of Tahiti.

6. Garden side of Tuvalu

Niue would be about the same as Samoa but it is smoking.

Aloha

Hi chilis-

First of all you have picked a perfect week to be in WDW- we are booked 11/13-11/27 for this year and were there about the same time last year.

We stayed at Tokelau and were on the first floor. We had requested 2nd or 3rd floor, but as it turns out we were very happy with the 1st floor. The best part of it was that we were visited daily by some feathered friends. We are animal lovers and my ds always had crackers or bread for them.

Have a blast!!

We were diehard Tahiti fans until we were assigned to the Fiji longhouse 3 years ago. We LOVE the location! Our last two trips we requested (GV) 3rd Floor w/Balcony and we had a wonderful view ..... sandy beach, palm trees, lush foliage, the Wedding Pavilion, Luau Cove, the monorail gliding by in the not too far distance. It was great.

I also loved that it was a hop, skip and a jump to the GCH. I love walking past the marina hearing the WDW RR whistle in the distance.

Oh, I could go on and on and on. :D We can't wait until we get back to the Poly in October! :sunny:

Do you want to be close to the action? We were in Raratonga last week and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven! The whole building just re-opened a few weeks ago after major rehab. Everything was beautiful and new. The view was of gardens toward the quiet pool. I had requested Samoa, but I think Raratonga might have actually been better. We would walk out our door and in about 10 seconds be in the main lobby. My kids were thrilled because I let them go for drink refills all by themselves. I was also happy that no one around us seemed to be smoking -- perhaps the whole building is smoke free now? We were also close to the building with the arcade and laundry room, and right on top of the quiet pool and even the volcano pool.

We will request this spot again. Right in the middle of everything but very peaceful nonetheless. We loved the Polynesian and can't wait to go back!

colleen costello,

It is good to hear Rarotonga is in good shape. It is and has been a non-smoking building. The only smoking rooms are all of Niue, The top floor of Tuvalu, half the top floor of Hawaii and the east half of the second floor in Tahiti.

Aloha

Steve,
We were in Somoa our first year Room #3610, I think (corner room, facing the Volano Pool, close to the Lagoon) and we could see the castle from the side of our balcony. My sister had the same room last year but alas there was foliage blocking the view.

We love the Poly,
How was Fiji when it comes to noise?? I am a light sleeper and I'll have hubby and a 4 year old with me, so I would like to be somewhere quiet!! (I'm thinking of taking a sleeping bag and camping on the balcony since my daughter is a very loud sleeper and dh can be a bed hog! :) ) I don't mind being on the outskirts of the resort...I can use the exercise.
