I emailed the vacation planner services about having surprise gift baskets delivered to our DLH room during the trip. I have been told that they will also deliver milk and cookies along with other amenities.
Has anybody had any experience with this? This will be our firs DL trip, is my Bf'sbirthday and I want it to be a special experience for my 2 yr. old princess.
Any suggestions?
I have already placed an order for a birthday cake to be delivered to the room but want to have more surprises for the little one as well.
thanks in advance. you all are full of valuable info.

We ordered a chocolate basket once for someone and it was very nice..beautifully put together and full of goodies.

Hi...we have had gift baskets...birthday cakes..delivered to our rooms ...for our DGS second birthday...the hotel staff had balloons...autographed pictures and a birthday button sent to our room...(this may or may not be done...this was just a surprise) We do let vacation planning know that we are celebrating a birthday or anniversary...the birthday cakes are delivered in an elegant fashion...linens, silverware...cloth napkins...just love this touch.

We love the milk and cookies...delivered around bedtime...if we are not in the room...the milk is in the fridge...Oh and the gift baskets are beautiful...I still have my Wedding Mickey and Minnie from my anniversary... they were in a wicker basket in the shape of a mickey head...so cute...jc

Gee, maybe I will inform DVP about the birthdays when I go. Sounds special. I am sold on the gift basket ideas and definitely the milk & cookies before bed. I think these extra touches will make our trip even more magical. Thanks for all the input!princess:

I had a basket delivered once, it was cute and it was delivered while we were out. We were there for DBF's b-day and stayed at the PP, he thought the basket was something they did for every guest. LOL

do they charge for the milk and cookies? and only on request? we stayed at dlh last year and didn't get any...

Well, from what I have been told if you want milk and cookies you have tp request it through vacation planner. there is a fee as well.
I did also hear that if you are on concierge level you may receive turndown service with chocolate covered strawberries. Yummmm...:lovestruc

I've ordered milk & cookies from room service, and also cheese/cracker fruit tray - I go through room service for that, not Vacation Planning.

Vacation Planning will put together baskets for you, etc.

But in either case - room service or Vacation Planning - there is a charge for the milk and cookies (I think around $18 or so, depending on how many cookies, etc.)

Did they e-mail you their list of things that they offer? You can also ask them for just about anything and they'll do their best to make it happen... for a price :)

Yes , VC did email me a list of gift baskets. They did also tell me that if I give them info about likes and dislikes, fave characters, etc. They will incorporate that into the basket. I am tickled pink about this, I cannot wait to see the surprise on Dbf and DD's faces when they see the basket. I will forgo the concierge level ( which makes Dbf happy) and create my own special surprises during our stay. I like to be creative. Its the woman in me.:rotfl:

Now,about those delicious cookies. I did see that they can be ordered from food service as well. I will definitely be ordering those at night as a sleepytime surprise. My lil one will be so excited.

Oh, guess what? My DD and I both are just getting over a nasty stomach virus. It hit her so bad she had to go to ER for an I.V. ( now that was the hardest thing she or I had experienced) Good news is we are both doing much better. The best part is that It did not happen during our vacation. I had originally planned on being in DL on the 4th. So, I am so thankful I changed the dates.Whew!!!!!!:wizard:
Until next time, Magical Disney wishes to all!!!pixiedust: pixiedust:

We were there in Jan for my sons bday, i told vac plan and the GCH about his bday and he didnt get anything. VP told me it would cost 22 bucks for 5 balloons.

We've ordered gift baskets, milk and cookies, chocolate covered strawberries and other snacks from vacation planning and they have all been a hit with my family. My kids think all the goodies are from Mickey and his friends welcoming them back to Disneyland. We've also recieved complimentary balloons and autographed photos from front desk as well. Have a magical trip.

yummmmmyyyy!!! Those choc covered strawberries are haunting me, yum. Sounds like it will be a fun time.
Kari, sorry vc and GCH did nothing to celebrate your young one's bday. What a bummer! Maybe next time give them a reminder. I have read stories where visitors had to remind the front desk about special occasions. I expect they do get busy, but nevertheless, YOur son's birthday is a special day to you and your family.
SO sorry that happened.!
thanks for all the ideas everyone! TIna:cheer2:

On our 2006 trip we did the basket ordering as well as a plate of Mickey Rice Krispie Treats and let me tell you the plate lasted teh whole trip but it was well worth it.

You got the Mickey rice krispies and they lasted the whole trip? We are lucky to have ours last the night. They are the shape of a mickey head and the ears are dipped in chocolate. Major yummy!! I think it was about $9 to have them delivered from room service (we ordered 3)

We ordered a basket, it was super cute. We got the one with soft side cooler and we it all the time. DH thinks it was a perk for staying Concierge:cool2: I think it was $30???

I should rephrase that! I preorder a plate of 12 thinking they would only last a night but they were huge. Exhaustion was the only thing on the minds of us every night when we got back to our rooms.
