I have a timeshare and I exchange thru Interval. I'm new to the timeshare thing and have only done one exchange so far.

When I talk to Interval they tell me that it is highly unlikely for me to exchange for a Disney resort. That I would have to go on a waiting list....Is there an easier way to find out if a Disney property becomes available? Thanks for any and all help! This newbie is very confused:hyper:

Have a great day:wave:

You can go to www.tug2.com and do a direct exchange with a DVC owner.

You could also try to sell your timeshare and go on the rental board. You would be able to rent points from a DVC member so you can stay in a DVC resort.

Where is your timeshare located?

What resort do you own? How far ahead and what unit size did you deposit? In general, DVC is a very tough trade. And asual for tough trades, you have to place an ongoing request which they will confirm without contacting you so be sure it's what you want. DVC is tough but not impossible. First, you should not be looking for a 2 BR as mostly it's 1 BR and studios that DVC gives up, though there are exceptions. Don't even think about Xmas and Easter as they are not deposited. As a general rule OKW is most available with BWV second. The likely available times are Jan and Sept with occasional availability during Feb, May, and Oct. I've also seen a few for the summer but mostly studios.

They way II works, what you want could be sitting there and they would still tell you there's nothing available. It's all about what your unit will pull in trade power IN ADDITION to availability. This is one of the problems I have with II. Even if they know you have ZERO chance due to lack of trade power, they will not tell you. I bet those advisors have a number of laughs at what people try to trade for.

I'd also second the direct exchange option but remember that you're going to need something others truly want and in many cases be willing to accept a smaller unit and/or less than 7 days (avoiding weekends) to make it work. Or in some cases cash plus a direct exchange offer. I remember one lady who offered Marriott's Manor Club 2 BR week 35 for 5 days in a studio avoiding weekends. As far as I know, she never had an offer. I was surprised as it was a heck of a deal, even for an off season week in Williamsburg.
