Question - Adding a Day and FastPass+

We currently have 6-day Park Hoppers with the intention of adding a day once we are inside the park. Since we bought the tickets from UT, we were advised to add a day once we are inside the park in order to lock-in our discount. We are planning on being in the parks from Sat - Fri (7 days) and I have FP+ reservations for Sun - Fri (6 days since I currently only have a 6 day ticket). My question is that if we enter the park on Saturday with our 6-day tickets, will it cancel our FP+ for that following Friday (since that is the 7th day) before we have the chance to add a day at Guest Services?

You could add the day anytime after entering the park after first use. I would use one of the guest relations outside the parks near the entrances as I've had trouble getting the right amount figured inside the parks.

No, you should be fine I think.

If I were you, I think maybe I'd consider the opposite- make FP for your first day now, and add FP for your last day after you are there.

If you wait until the same day to add the 7th set of FP, your FP options will be limited, but 6 days out, you'll probably get some decent FP+ options unless your seventh day is a major holiday week or MK on a Saturday, or you flying that day and REALLY need your FP for specific times. (Pres week, weekend of MLK Jr, Easter)

You won't lose that last day of booked FPs. FPs will remain intact for up to 1.5 days without a ticket directly linked. If you forget to add on during that day, do it as soon as possible when you reach the park the following day.

Yep I asked this sane question for our trip last week but it worked out fine! We went to the studios on our first day then added the extra day on our way out of the park and none of our fastpasses were lost

Loosely related to this, now that the tiered pricing has gone into effect, how do you think adding a day to tickets will be impacted? I guess what I'm wondering is; will the price bridging still happen or will you be charged more to bring it up to the current pricing when adding a day?

We were at Disneyland the beginning of January and were very frustrated with their process of adding a day. They won't bridge prices if you bought a discounted ticket or bought a ticket prior to a price increase, you basically have to pay the difference in cost and then pay for the extra day. I remember thinking, "wow, they aren't as customer focused as WDW". I hope WDW isn't going to this practice.

It depends where you purchased the ticket.

You will have to pay the difference between what you originally paid, and the new full price.
(In other words, your total price will be as though you had not made any purchase before the price increase.)

You cannot add days (prior to arrival at WDW) to a ticket purchased separately from a WDW Resort stay.

Yes, this DOES mean that if a guest buys tickets from a third party authorized ticket seller (like Undercover Tourist or Park Savers) that guest can KEEP the discount they got when they purchased, even when upgrading.

It also means that if a guest buys tickets directly from Disney** (at the gate, on-line, on the phone) that guests will lose any price advantage that they got if they purchased before a price increase, if they upgrade.

** Tickets purchased as part of a WDW Resort package are considered "discounted" and are treated like the authorized reseller tickets during an upgrade.

I'm a little confused by this. Let's say I have a 4 day ticket in hand that I bought either through a UT or direct off the Disney site in advance at a lower price than is currently offered. I use 4 days of it and decide I would really like to add a 5th day before I leave the park on day 4. Will they bridge the price and just charge me the cost to add a 5th day regardless of what I paid to begin with? This is the way it was worked at WDW in the past. It can depend on where you bought your original ticket.

Thanks for the detailed explanation Robo. I sure didn't realize they were treated differently. Once you used a day on them I thought they were all treated the same.

It sounds like you'd have an advantage, in that case, if you bought from a discounted third-party vendor (as long as they continue to follow this practice under the new ticketing structure).

Yup.
That was really my point.

There are actually advantages (in addition to just the discount price) to buying tickets from a Disney authorized ticket reseller over
buying directly from Disney.
