HI,

My family is going all set to go to WDW 6/24-7/1. We have all our ADR set and we are very excited. It is me (39), DH(40), Dsis(38), and our 2 DD (10 &8). My parents just told me that they too are coming for the weekend. My concern is that they will want to come with us to the restaurants; especially Ohana on Sunday at 5:05pm and Tusker House Monday at 9:20am. How should I handle this? Can I just hope they will have room for 2 more or should I cancel and start over knowing that I may lose out on 2 of the most important reservations we have. Any experiences or opinios would be great.:flower3:

You read my mind, I was about to post the same question. here's a dilemma my sister in law is in. She, her husband and DS5 are going to WDW 1st june as a last minute trip, going with her friends and their 2 sons. Her friend currently has a Chef Mickey's ADR for dinner for 6 people. There would now be 8 going. she has tried calling to make a new reservation and been told they're full ( of course). We don't know if she's asked to change the existing booking or not. If they turn up as 8 people for a table for 6, will they accommodate them or turn the extra 2 away?

The extra people should make reservations elsewhere and meet up with their party at a later time.
I dont think they should waste time "hoping" they can get in.

if its full--its full

Has anyone ever tried to get more people in, I'm going to recommend they make a reservation elsewhere but just curious as to what people have experienced.

Friends went to Disney back in March. At the last minute in-laws decided to go, friend called to see if they could add to the ADR for Chef Mickeys and were told no tables were available to accomodate two more people. They then asked if there was a table for two and again no. So they showed up with the two extra people in hopes of getting them in, in the end they did not get the in-laws in. Luckily in-laws understood and went to find dinner somewhere else.

So, I would call and see if you can amend the current ADR, if the ADR can't be amended then either 1) try to find another place that can handle everyone or 2) explain to the folks coming the situation. Hopefully they will understand.

Thanks, I just don't want my SIL trying to get in and then my 5 year nephew being heartbroken if they can't get in.

She's totally new to this, I'm goign to try calling and see if I can get them using all the tips from the DIS!!! fingers crossed everyone, but don't hold your breath. :rotfl:

I think you should be ok with 'Ohana, but I am not sure about Tusker House.

I believe 'Ohana will be fine because your ADR time is right when they open for seating. They are often more flexible seating you at opening time.

With Tusker House, you might have success, but I'd go in believing I won't be successful. You can always try, but make sure your extra guests understand they might need to meet up with you if you're not successful.

I think it's harder to add people than it is to drop them.
When you call, make sure they don't cancel any of you ADRs; you may not be able to replace them at this point. Unfortunately, your new guests may have to hope for walk-in status somewhere or eat QS.

Last Sept I was able to add a couple of friends when we showed up at Yak & Yeti and also at Liberty Tree tavern. Both of these were for lunch. However, I've seen people try to show up with extra people at Le Cellier, Mama Melrose, and Chef Mickey's turned away. These were all at dinner. It may depend on the restaurant, the meal times, or just how crowded they are at the time.
