Question about why (maybe for a cast member to answer?)

So we just came back from DISNEY and we had an awesome time...I was happy to see someone from DISBOARDS celebrating their daughter's 16th birthday and giving a shout out to DIS BOARDS! Fay didn't keep us down..my daughter's first birthday went awesome..zero to no wait, no heat..rain...but who cares...we got on every ride as many times as we wanted..and the cast members made the trip super special as always...:) I have one question...We took my daughter to Toon town to see the Princesses there...and we one of the last people on line..very short wait...There was a disabled girl behind us and a cast member asked nicely if we would let her go first and of course we said it was no problem..the cast member was super sweet...and then we took our turn..but that made us last in line..after all the people had left and we were on our last Princess...I asked if we could take a picture with all three Princesses since there wasn't anyone else in the room and a different older meaner cast member said that it was against policy and they don't usually allow it and they refused...it was my daughter's birthday, and we were very polite and nice...and I just wondered WHY?:confused3 It's supposed to be a Year of a Million Dreams..and it wasn't like anyone else would have seen us so a million people would ask for the same thing..I know they give special opportunites to some people sometimes..when it won't affect anyone or if their are special circumstances (disabilites-the girl got a picture with Belle and Aurora my sister said although I wasn't paying attention) Just wondering what the policies are and why they don't...I have a picture from back in the day when I was sleeping in my stroller and Minnie and Mickey came out and stood behind me and were doing the SHHH! pose..but that was like twenty years ago..I just want to know why..all cast members are nice but the end lady was really "unmagical" and mean...:sad1:

I have a relative who is a Cast member and i have heard that there are characters that can not be put together for pictures. (ie... Mickey and Minnie) Unless Disney does it or something.
I don't however know why except for the fact that it probably has something to do with marketing.
It's too bad though.

We were at the character area at Epcot (the one in that big room) a few years ago and Mickey Mouse called all of the other characters over for a group picture with my son. My son has Down syndrome so Mickey was being sweet to him. (side note - the photopass thing lost our pictures and could not be recovered so we have no picture of this - DH was on Soarin and I was alone with son in the picture so no personal shots :sad1: I was so bummed about it). There were people waiting but he still called them over for a group picture. So to say they aren't allowed in a picture together is not true. Maybe they thought somebody would see and want their's done that way too like you said. Or maybe that CM was just ornery. Who knows. Maybe they do have rules or something to only do that for children with SNs or something. I wish the nice CM would have stayed a bit longer for you!!!

I'm glad your little princess had a great 1st birthday!

So sorry Sandra! I love the Disney visa meet-n-greet for this reason. I love group pictures with several characters.

Because Disney would rather disappoint one person than a hundred. You get that picture, and it ends up here on your sig file. And people show their daughters, and set expectations. If anyone knows its rare, they'll ask - and you'll say "we just asked."

They will do it, as Sandra's post proves, but it tends to be really rare when that sort of thing happens - and it seldom happens by asking for it.

It sounds like more of a time constraint issue since you were the last family in line. I have close friends in the entertainment department that are "friends with characters" and the hardest part is having to leave when guests still want a picture. They stick firmly to the 15 minute on, 15 minute off rule for the safety of the performers. That's probably why the last CM came off as mean, because it's her responsibility to keep time for the characters. Like MrsJJHenry said there are also strict rules about mixing characters for photos. You'll never be able to take a picture with Pooh and Mickey together. Even though they were all princesses, they're from different time periods and films, so Disney is funny about that.
