Question about when I actually get membership number

We are scheduled to close today! :banana:

DH and I are jetting down for a long F&W weekend - leaving Saturday. When can I start calling Member Services to pester them about my membership number? We want to upgrade to DVC APs while we're there. Does Disney send notification of transfer by email or regular mail? If we get the number while we're down there, can we stop at AKV and get a card?

We closed on 9/18 and I called MS on 9/24. They had my member number at that time. I don't know if they had it sooner or not, but in general I have heard about a week is the norm.
 
10 days seems to be the new average and they are worked on Tuesdays. You can get your Member ID at the SSR sales center.

You are waiting to get your AP until 10/1 to qualify for the new discount right?

If you're buying direct, call your Guide and have him point you in the right direction. They should be able to make it happen.

If you're buying resale, honestly it seems doubtful that you would have a member ID in hand during a "long weekend" trip which begins this Saturday. With the closing today (Wednesday), DVC may not even have the docs in hand until early next week. And like others said, the turnaround on processing resale transfers-of-ownership is running about 10 business days.

Might just have to chalk this up to poor timing.
