question about water hose

When I bought my TT, the little salesman tells me to buy this white teflon water hose for my drinking water so I don't taste the hose....Well we have camped 4 times now since and that TASTE is still there. I made mac n cheese the other night in the camper and I could taste it in the mac n cheese even after the water was drained out and the cheese was in it....how long does it take for that taste to go away??? I use a lot of water while camping and constantly cleaning something ( I have 2 kids)..so it can't be due to a lack of use..lol

I would personally not drink water from a campsite hookup. I buy the 1 gallon jugs of drinking water for around $1 for cooking and drinking in the camper. I buy the smaller bottles too but that's mostly for when we're going to be away from the camper. I especially wouldn't drink the water that goes in your holding tank. Maybe if I had an expensive filter I might try it lol.

I use it to cook with, brush our teeth and shower with..oh and the potty..I only drink bottled water. I guess I am still ingesting it in some shape or form, but not as bad ..LOL

Our TT came with an inline filter right where the hook-up comes into the camper. We've never had a "funky" water problem.

The only time we ever had any issue was when I left water in the lines for several months between two trips. We winterized it after that trip and the RV antifreeze took care of it.

Ours came from a company in Fla. but Camping World does have inline filters. There's even a Camping World in Myrtle Beach.

We have one here in Chattanooga.. I will just go down there one day and give them a gander..I got to get one before Myrtle Beach because I have lived there and I KNOW the water there is pretty nasty during the summer tourist season months...EWWWW Thanks for your help!!!

Try running a mixture of bleach and water through your holding tank and water lines. Runs the faucets until you can smell the bleach, then shut them off and let the mixture stay in there for a couple of days. Then drain the tank, and run fresh water through all the lines. You can also run some baking soda through while you are flushing out the bleach solution. I would also start using an inline filter. Not only for taste and smell, but it will also remove sediment from the water that can harm your water heater and lines.

Deodorizing the tanks and lines is a must. Your owners manual should have the necessary instructions.
My finicky wife WOULD NEVER drink any water away from our home service.
Bottled water for everything.
UNTIL I hooked up a Culligan Water filter. We have a standard travel trailer. We use a 90 degree brass water fill attachment on the city hook up water supply . Then we connect our water pressure regulator to that. We connect a water filter cartridge to that with the materials that come with the cartrige(usually a short hose that allow the cartidge to be flexible)and then connect our white water supply hose to that. We use one filter per season which is usually 4-5 weekend trips and one long trip to FW. I usually drain the cartridge between uses.
Be careful when buying the cartridges and ask for help if you are not sure. There are different cartridges for different needs. Some are just sediment filters, others go as far as removing chlorine. Read the labels to determine what the cartridges filter.

And definately use the white hose. White hoses are designed for potable (drinking) water. The regular hoses--green, black, yellow, whatever....--may be made from recycled materials and could leach heavy metals or other poisons into your drinking water.

For safety we just use gallon jugs for anything that goes in our mouth. RV water for toilet and baths.
