Question about Waitlisting for Renter

Hi All!

We're heading down June 14th for six nights at BWI, and I got a much better airfare flying in on the 13th, so we need one night somewhere else (read that as = cheaper). Obviously, BWV would be the easiest and most convenient for luggage transfer, checking out and back in on the 14th, etc. (my mom will be with us in an ECV and perhaps oxygen as well, so I'd rather not stay offsite or even at the values).

So here's my question:

IF we wanted to rent 2 studios at BWV for just the one night of June 13th, AND they were sold out (which, I understand, they are at this time), then could a DVC member whom we would be renting points from get on the waitlist WITHOUT committing their points to the reservation until it's made? We don't have anybody lined up yet but I'm looking, and I wanted to know how this would complicate the process, or if it would.

ALSO, how should I go about titling a listing on the 'Rent/Trade' board so as to convey what I'm needing?

Thanks a BUNCH for your kind help, fellow DISers!!!

Yes, a member could wait list then say yes or no when they call. But I don't think that'll work well in your case as there are several pitfalls. You might get one unit rather than 2. If DVC calls they member likely couldn't wait to call you to say yes or no. You'd have to essentially make a commitment and go ahead and pay for it with the hopes of success and expectation of a refund if not. Off site may be your best option then get over the BWI early in the AM and check in.

Keep in mind also that's a significant amount of effort on a DVC owners' part for a relatively small rental.

I think Dean has a good suggestion for off-site, or maybe a couple rooms at a Value Resort at WDW? They'll handle the baggage transfer to any other DVC resort with a minimum of hassle.

Good luck! :)
