I take Centrum for my multivitamin.

I also take an extra antioxidant suppliment, later in the day with food.

Inevitebly, sometime after the antioxidant suppliment, my pee turns bright neon yellow. This never happens after I take Centrum.

Am I just peeing away the extra suppliment?

I know that vitamin c will do that. In fact your body doesn't store excess C so it's better to take several smaller doses spread thru-out the day.

I only take Centrum, but I get the neon yellow pee as well. Thanks for making me feel less weird! :teeth:

Well, I don't pee in the dark, so I really can't say!

For those of you who answered, is it not worth it to take the extra supplement?

If Centrum supposedly gives you 100% of what you need, why would you think you need more? I only ask this because I also used to take extra C & E, and stopped because I had heard that too much of certain vitamins could be dangerous.

I'm no expert, but from what I understand, the percentages on most bottles are recommended daily allowances that were determined decades ago. I think most of us actually need a lot more than the 100% to fight off free radicals (which is what antioxidants do) since we live in a society that is much more polluted than it used to be, and the majority of us don't eat the amount of fruits and vegetables that we should be eating.

While it is possible to be taking in too much of a certain vitamin, I think that for most people, we need the supplements. JMHO. (Side note -- I've experienced the yellow thing too! You are not alone!!)

There are two types of vitamins...water soluble and fat soluble. Water soluble vitamins are excreted in your urine, fat soluble vitamins are stored in fat.

If you are taking a multi-vitamin, or a single vitamiin in the water-soluble family, whatever your body doesn't "need" will be excreted in your urine.

If oyu are taking a fat soluble vitamin, whatever your body doesn't "need" is stored in oyur fat, which can become dangerous if too much is stored. That ius why it is very important to only take the recommended doses of fat soluble vitamins. You don't want to take excess, because they can be harmful in the long-term.

Vitamins should be taken with food so your body can absorb them. If taken on an empty stomach, they supposedly run right through you.
