Question about visiting in September

Lucky old me, my birthday falls in September, right around the time they close my favorite ride to decorate for the holidays (Haunted Mansion). Is there a usual time frame for it, or does it vary? I'd really like to use my free birthday ticket, but it's a bummer that I may not get to do one of the only rides I usually go on (I'm more about the atmosphere and fun times - my friend thinks I'm crazy).

What's it like in September?

Oh, and you have to love the fact that I'm a month away from my DL trip and I'm already trying to work everything out for my next one (and next, and next ...). It will never end.

My DD9 is off track in Sept. and we go alot. Sept. is a great time to go. :cloud9: The weather is usually good. Sometimes very hot. The crowds aren't too bad especially on the week days. It can get crowded closer to the end of the month as the decorations for Halloweentime go up.

What part of Sept. is your :bday:? My DD is on the 19th and my DM is on the 22nd . I'm hoping to spend their birthdays at WDW (again.) :lovestruc

I'm September 10 :D So I guess closer to the beginning of the month. I was just trying to remember the last time I tried to plan a trip in September and scrapped it because there were a couple of things that closed down right before my birthday that year.

And I may be a little crazy, but I love the heat. My favorite trip was in the middle of July for the birthday celebration back in '06.

Most likely it will be closed on your birthday. It used to close later, towards the 11 or 12, but the last 2 years, it has closed Sept. 2 and 4. It sucks that it would be closed for your birthday, but I have to say that I love the holiday version. It is one of our favorite rides.

Oh yeah :D I love the holiday version to. It was the highlight of my trip the one time I went out for the holidays (I think it was back in '04). Sucks that if I want my free admission I'll miss it, but hey, I guess 1 day is better than no day.

This year Labor Day is Monday, Sept 7. (In the previous 8 years, HM has been open up-to-and-including Labor Day.)

HM's 40th anniversary is August 9, 2009, and on Sept 9 (9-9-09) HM will be open for a special ticketed event ("999 Happy Haunts").

The "regular" HM should be open to all Guests prior to the 9th of Sept.

Whether or not HM is open on Sept 10 (or closed to install the HMH overlay) probably won't be "officially" known until early June. (Last year, the refurb schedule for HM/HMH wasn't announced until early June.)

Good information to know, thanks!! So does the "special ticketed event" mean it will be closed to the public (the ride) except for whoever purchased the package-thing? I never know how those things work.

Ah, NM. If we went a coupled of days before my birthday too, we'd get the HM in!

It looks like the HM will be open to the public on Sept 9, 2009. ::yes::

I'm not familiar with ticketed events, but from what I gather it appears that on 9-9-09 the special-ticket holders would enter HM at 10:30pm, and the ticketed event would take place inside the HM between 10:30pm and Midnight.

From 1:00 to 6:00pm some of the special-ticket holders can attend a merchandise event, and a seminar with Tony Baxter, inside the Sequoia Ballroom in the Grand California Hotel (GCH); and there will be a dinner in DCA from 7:00 to 8:30pm.
