hello,
i have recently learned about a restaurant called victoria & albert's at the grand floridian resort. i've heard that it is pricey but very nice. i'm going to wdw oct 18 - 25 with dh (no kids). it will be our first time there. is this place worth making a reservation to eat at? we are on a semi-budget so we don't want to spend too much - but we would like to have a few nice meals while we are there.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

thanks much!

vic and al is one of the very few 5 star restaurants in central florida. the chef's table, w/out wine pairings, but w/tax and gratituty cost us around $300 for 2. this year we are in the main dining room and the CM told me when i reserved it would be $90/per person. it is probably the finest dining experience ever. if the budget allows for the evening out at vic and al, then by all means call NOW for reservations. you will be glad you had such an experience.

It definately is pricey, but in my book a bargain as a very special memory . . . central Florida's only 5 diamond restaurant (only 119 of those worldwide), and to be honest, even at $90 a meal (sans wine pairings which are $40 more) it is about 1 1/2 times or so the cost of flying fish and similar restaurants, and in my book is many times nicer than those so a relative value . . . still, perhaps $230 for a meal for two is steep, and expect that if you go once tax and tips are in

ps, pics of V&A's chef's table with the food served in V&A is in my post below and that may help

Well everyone's "semi-budget" is different but if $90/person fits yours, go for it!

For us, it's a treat that we indulge in every few years. Well, twice in the last year and a half but still a treat for us. The food and service are truly wonderful.

On these boards I've read of splitting the wine pairings which appeals to me as they match the wines so well but by the end of the dinner I need my menu to remember what I had! You can also bring your own wine I believe as the menu mentioned a corkage fee...we've never done this however and I would not because it's nice to have experts match the wine with the courses.

I'd heartily recommend it also.. And in case it matters, a jacket is required for men and the ladies dress accordingly. And the meal there is about 2 to 2 1/2 hours long. If wine isn't your thing, they do have full bar service.

Can someone explain to me how this works? My mother is interested in the wine pairings, but is affraid that she will srink too much by the end of the night. Thanks in advance!

We haven't done this but what has been reported is that two people can "share" one wine pairing...which was $45 in March when we dined there I believe. Even though you are sharing, your Victoria or Albert will serve you each smaller portions of the wines that are matched to your individual choices.

That's sounds great. I imagine my wife and mother would probably like to split a pairing. Not me though :)

I heard there was no corkage at WDW. Has anyone been to V&A, brought their own wine and paid corkage? I have a great cellar and would love to bring my own if I can. If not, we'll party in the room before dinner.

Thanks!

Well, I know that a corkage fee was listed in March. You could always call the restaurant directly to make sure it is still allowed.

Don't know where you heard that no restaurants at WDW allow it but V&A's is rather unique in many ways. I haven't noticed corkage fee anywhere else. Course I may have just missed it!

Wouldn't it be hard to match your wines to the menu when you don't know it ahead of time? Just curious how you would do that?
