Question about using the Toy Story parking lot shuttle

We will be staying at the Best Western Raffles, which apparently is a block from the Toy Story parking lot. Many of this hotel's reviews have mentioned that they just used the Toy Story parking shuttle to get to the park. Is that allowed? Do you just walk up to the shuttle, and they don't question if you are parked there? Just wondering....

Yes, but it is a bit of a walk, and I would either walk to the park, or use a shuttle next to my Hotel.

ART Route 1 goes from the front of BW Raffles to the park. Yes, there is the $5 daily fee (ART Route 20, the Toy Story buses is paid for by Disney.)

Yes, anyone headed to the park can use the shuttles and trams. There is no check.

There are six of us, so the ART would be $30. We do have a vehicle; I was just thinking it would be silly to pay $18 to possibly end up parking right next door

I think the walk is doable.

The walk to the park is about 9/10th of a mile, and you don't have to dodge the cars in the Toy Story Lot, wait in line to board the bus, deal with the boarding and the time it takes to get the bus loaded, and maybe make a couple of more stops prior to getting to the park.

Personal preference....

If I want a ride, pick me up near my room, don't have me walk half way to just catch a bus for the other half.

We stayed at the Red Lion right next to the TS lot last time - we walked to the parks in the mornings, but it was nice to be able to relax on the shuttle at the end of the long park days.

I've stayed near the Toy Story lot before and used the shuttles or walked directly to the parks on different days. I never had any issues using the shuttles - there's a sidewalk leading right in, so it's not like you're sneaking in or walking amongst the cars, and I don't think I've ever really experienced a wait for buses on the way there, but at closing time I've seen lines for the return bus. In terms of time-savings, I think it came out about the same whether we walked or took the bus. The bus doesn't make any additional stops on the way there, but it does take sort of a round-about route. If anyone in your group has mobility issues or wants to save their energy/feet, it's worth it to be able to sit down. On the other hand, if you were running late for a reservation or FP return, I would probably opt to walk because (although I've never experienced it) it's always possible for there to be some delay with the bus.

We have stayed at the Red Lion multiple times now and as long as no one has health issues with walking, it's totally walkable. We haven't taken the TS shuttle at the end of the day yet, but I've considered doing it and might in the future!

We stayed at the Travelodge just down the road from the TS lot and had no issues using the shuttle. Except on the morning it was closed lol We walked to the park, and it wasn't a terrible walk.

I think your plan sounds great! You can absolutely use the Toy Story shuttle.

We used the Toy Story shuttles over Christmas to New Years week and dodging cars wasn't an issue. There are clearly marked crosswalks through the lot to the pedestrian exit to Harbor, and cars were very respectful of them.

We also used Lyft a couple times to save time. There was always a car within 3-4 minutes, and cost about $5-$6 each way plus tip. I don't know if they would let OP shoehorn 6 ppl into the car, but if they will, and you want an alternative to paying for the suttle, I'd prefer Lyft or Uber over the shuttle.

We actually stay at BW Raffles quite often and always try to stay at a hotel near the Toy Story lot. It's quite easy to walk into the lot and catch the bus. You really don't have to dodge cars to get the busses. We have always had busses available to take to the Esplanade and never had to wait more than 5 minutes. I would much rather walk to the TS lot and take the bus than walk to the parks. Much shorter IMO. I would definitely recommend finding a parking spot at BW Raffles and not moving it if you can (their parking lot is quite tiny but they have free valet when their lot fills up).

The only time we walked when staying near TS parking was when it was our early entry. If I remember correctly, DL opened at 8, MM at 7, and the shuttle didn't start until 7.

Remember, opting for Uber/Lyft doesn't work with children 8 and younger, as California Law requires a car/booster seat. The ART system is exempt.

We stayed at the Hilton which is about a mile from the parks and a quarter mile from the pick up/drop off at the TS lot. We used Uber to get to the parks in the morning and at park closing. We used the shuttle to get back and forth during the day. Avoided lines to get on the busses that way.
