Question about Using Points from Multiple Smaller Contracts....

OK I am killing some serious brain cells trying to figure how many points I need for the amt of time I want to spend and now I am at the "multiple contracts at multiple resorts" vs one resort etc.

Here is my question:

If you have lets say 3 contracts at 100 pts each for 300 total pts., and they are at AKV, VWL, and BWV am I to assume that you are under the "11 month window" at all three resorts for all the 300 pts combined or does it separate them per each 100 pt. contract when I am making ressies.

In other words. Lets say I want to make a ressie for October for 10 days at AKV. The pts would cost apprx 226pts. Can I make the ressies at 11 months at AKV for all 226 pts, or do I have to make a ressie for 100 pts stay and then wait till 7 months to see if the AKV has availability the remaining 126 pts of my stay.

I hope that makes sense. I just figured it would be good to have contracts at multiple resorts that way I could have at least 3 resorts that I could have the "11 month window" for ressies as long as all my 300 pts are available for the initial ressie at either the BWV, AKV or VWL.

Thanks in advance.

During the home resort priority period you can only use points from the resort you are trying to book. So, it would take some of 3 years worth of points at AKV, banked, current and some borrowed (for instance) to book an AKV stay worth 226 points 11, (or 10, or 9, or 8) months out.

By the way, we own a total of 855 points at 5 different resorts so that we can do what you want. We're the DGP of the family and love to have our DGC with us on many of our trips. We've booked a BC at VB for our upcoming trip 11 months, as well as a 2 bedroom and a studio at VWL for the WDW portion of the trip.

In just a few weeks, we'll be booking a 2 bedroom and a studio for our precruise trip next May at BCV:banana:

When booking in the 11-month window, you can only use Home Resort Points. You would need 226 AKV points to book your October stay at AKV in the 11-month booking window. When booking in the 7-month window, Vacation Points from any resort could be used to book your October stay, subject to availability.

Many of us who have small add-ons at multiple resorts use banking and/or borrowing to accumulate enough Home Resort Points to book our stay in the 11-month window. For example, I have enough VWL points to book a 1BR there every other year by banking my points in alternate years. Another option is to book as many nights as your Home Resort Points allow in the 11-month window and try to add on additional nights once the 7-month window opens up using your other Vacation Points. I prefer the banking method so that I can book the entire stay 11 months out. I don't like risking that I might forget to call 7 months out to book the remainder of my stay and end up having to change resorts part way through my trip because the resort is fully booked by the time I remember to call back.

If you own at 3 different resorts, then you have home resort points for each of those resorts. Those points cannot be combined within the 11 - 8 month window to make a reservation at a single resort.

What you can do is bank and borrow to go say at VWL one year, BWV the next year and then AKV the following year.
