Question about use of DVC 25th park ticket deal

I was reading up on the DVC park ticket deal and I have a couple of questions.

1. We are probably not going for 2 years -- can i purchase them this far in advance? From what i can tell it doesn't seem like there is any restriction for use -- just must be purchased by 3/31/16
2. It states that - "For these items, you must show a valid Disney Vacation Club Membership ID at the park entrance to pick up a maximum of 8 tickets or passes". Does this mean that i can only get the tickets/attached to magic bands when we show up at the park? If so how does that affect our ability to select fast passes.

If someone has already purchased these tickets i would like a little input on how it links to MDE account. This far out we obviously do not have our DVC reservations .

Saving any little amount would be helpful for our family of 5.

I doubt many people have purchased yet, since they were just announced this morning. But, what that usually means in, the tickets will need to be activated before they can be used to enter the parks, but they can be linked in advance. And, practically speaking, the special 4-park ticket had the same disclaimer, but it was not enforced. I'd expect these to work just like any other ticket.

With normal (direct from) Disney ticket purchases, you (usually just) get a ticket or will-call number .
Those numbers can be associated with MDE profiles.
Eventually you add a resort reservation for those MDE people which allows the FP+ reservations 60 days out.
Then you get sent a Magic Band that can "unlock" those ticket, resort and FP+ entitlements stored in the MDE account.

I am guessing these discounted tickets will work like normal MYW tickets but it's too early to tell.

FWIW, you can normally save ~$25/ticket on some tickets purchased through resellers like Undercover Tourist. This DVC deal is ~$39/ticket. It's a nice something, but not earth shattering.
(Although you can get Target Red Card % or fuel points buying Disney gift cards and use those Disney gift cards to buy the DVC tickets for a little additional $$)

Has anyone tried upgrading already purchased tickets to the new free day deal? My wife is terrified we'll lose all of our FP+ reservations.

Forgive me, I'm a day late on the news--what exactly is the DVC 25th ticket deal? Is there a link somewhere? Thanks! :earsboy:

We've upgraded in the past with no loss of FP's. This should not be any different.

Well poop! Of course, I just purchased our 7-day park hoppers last month:furious:...oh well...

I'm kicking myself about it too! I was so worried about a potential price increase that I wanted to scoop them up. I've thought about seeing if adding a day would work...

Though my hubbs says he doesn't want waste time at the water parks. Even though I'd love to go one day. Blah.

On another thread discussing this, someone pointed out that the same ticket, i.e., a 4 day with a 5th day free, purchased from Undercover Tourist is actually $2 less. Add on the discount given to subscribers to their emails, and another couple of dollars are saved. So anybody can get a better deal than the one DVC is offering owners.

Yeah, kind of insulting, isn't it?

Insulting our intelligence? Yes.
I figured every which way, ran the figures every way I could, to see if buying DVC was the right thing to do. Do they think DVC owners don't know what tickets cost?

Its $10...

I gotta ask...does anyone look at the prices?
Actually, for some folks, it is more like $36. We get park hoppers already and this benefit would not only add a day ($10) but also the water parks and more ($26). For a family of 4, this is a $144 savings on passes. That's not exactly a "slap in the face".

...and, of course, last night, my DD10 says, "Mom, can we PLEEEEEEASE go to one of the water parks this time?":headache:

It's $10 if you get the base ticket. If you add the park hopper you'll gt the water park free - which would have been an extra $25 (you get it at a discount anyway if you buy both) - so savings is $35 plus tax. Which is less than 10% - not impressive, but prices will go up, so getting them a bit cheaper now will save some in the future (though I'm not interested)

But that's psychology...if you hadn't preplanned to purchase the water parks...which most do not...then getting it is a minor diversion and the vast majority will get little use out of it.

It's giving most people something their not inclined to use. They know water
Parks well...they invented them. People are predetermined to be "in" or out in the end.

Very true. Like other limited time DVC ticket promos, the Water Park deal will not work for all.
Unlike previous promos, I don't see many planning extra trips because of this deal. About all I can think is this might result in more water park ticket sales to offset the planned closure of Disney Quest.
The timing of the previous PAP promos never quite worked for me, but I was happy for those that could take advantage.

Just to confirm, this DVC ticket deal must also be used within 14 days of first use, right? They no longer have the non-expiration... So if I add the Water Parks and More, that also must be used within 14 days?

We are planning a spring trip for one week and I'm trying to figure out which is better for us Undercover Tourist or DVC ticket deal. We always get DVC APs but they are priced out of our budget and now we actually need to buy some tickets. Gotta decide about PH and WPP.

I really miss the DVC PAP deal ... that encouraged us to actually do multiple trips in one year, esp summer to go to the WP a lot!
