Question about use of DVC 25th park ticket deal

I have been trying to convince DH (who is on the fence) to sell our DVC. I thought this deal might make him want to put it off another year when I first started reading the thread, now seeing what the deal is I think it is more likely to push him in the other direction. Instead of the awesome PAP deals we got in the past disney is offering something that at most saves $35 IF we wanted to do the water park already (and he isn't a huge fan of the water parks)

My daughter crunched the numbers and the disney deal has a small savings, but I told her only if she planned to go to a water park.

That is the only reason this is any kind of a deal.

My group will most certainly use the water parks, both of them. My son-in-law gets the cabanas....

Remind me folks....she wanted an AP but had already booked her trip before the new rules with black out dates. So she can buy a multi day ticket for her March trip and before she uses her last day she can use that ticket and upgrade to the gold AP knowing the start day was the first day she used her ticket. Do I have this right?
For a normal ticket, you can upgrade to an AP as long as the ticket is still valid for park admission (including on the last day of use) but not the day after all entitlements have been used.
If you use any water park admissions, you can only upgrade to an AP with water park admission.
During a blackout period, you would want to upgrade to a Gold AP after you entered your last park on your last day.(but before you leave that park)

She can upgrade on her last day, even after she's used the ticket.

I'm confused. I went to the DVC member website. The offer does not include hoppers. We buy park hoppers. You add park hopping and get free water parks, right? The total for 8 days (buy 7 days get the 8th free) with the PH option is $2092.75 (with tax). I went to Undercover Tourist and the total was $1755.80 (with tax). Am I doing this wrong? Or is this just not a deal for my specific situation?

It's there, you just have to keep scrolling down.

The deal is that if you buy a 4 day ticket you get the 5th day free and when you add the PH option you get the water parks free.

At least you could find the deal. After about 15 minutes on the DVC site I gave up. Thank you guys for the clarification of upgrading. Now the question is, is the new DVC ticket upgradeable. I remember the last DVC ticket deal was not upgradeable......?

The same tickets you could get for $1,755.80 at Undercover Tourist should be $1,699.76 with the DVC deal. You get one day and the water park option for free.

This is a great deal for me! I am buying two 10 day tickets with the park hopper and water park options for a two week trip this summer, once you convert into Canadian dollars I am saving $110.

Anybody think there is a remote possibility that I could "upgrade" the 7-day park hoppers that I just bought to these special tickets? I'm not looking for a refund, but it would be nice if I could get the water park addition without paying more. That way, if the weather is looking good for our October trip, maybe we could surprise the kids with a day at a water park. Unfortunately, DH and the kids have the MYW tickets and I have a Gold AP so I would still have to pay for a single-day water park admission for me, which is why I don't want to tell the kids in advance. If the weather is too cool, I am not going.

I think the issue for your situation would be that your trip isn't until Oct and this ticket special is only offered until March 31st.

Oh, whoops! I wonder if calling either DVC or the ticketing department would get me anywhere..

The tickets don't need to be used by 3/31, only purchased by that date. They can be activated at any date in the future.

But she was looking to upgrade to them from tickets already purchased. Unless one finds a very accommodating CM upgrades need to be done in person at WDW.

It might but would likely have to be just catching the right person. It's not something I'd count on though.

Just because someone says that they are giving you a deal or make you expect that it's a deal doesn't make it so.

Many of the member magic offerings seem wonderful but in reality most members will not use them. I often wonder if they are offered so that the guides can include them during their sales pitch, just like you can use points for ABD but how many actually do this, not many is my guess.

Bingo

They are probably upgradeable but you will only get the value you paid for the tickets- not the value Disney gives you with the extra day added. When you buy tickets from Disney they don't do any price bridging.

Tks. The price wasn't an issue. My daughter had planned to buy an AP, they the price went up and the lower price gold was offered with black out dates. Her trip is a week before Easter, so she's trying to get around the blackout dates. So buying a multiday ticket for that trip, then upgrading to the gold at the end might we a get around.

It will be interesting to find out. I believe Disney resort package tickets are bridgeable because Disney Resorts buys them from Ticketing at a discount.

We were going to buy a 4 day park hopper for this March anyway, so we got this ticket and it will allow us to go into the parks on arrival day, which we wouldn't have otherwise. I guess that is ok. But then again, I really didn't WANT to go into the parks. I wanted to eat at the California Grill and have drinks at Trader Sam's.

Oh the dilemma.
