question about upgrading to ap's

so Im from Canada and can buy our 7 day ph with waterpark passes here for $349.34 (cad) when I get to wdw can I upgrade to our discounted ap's? is there a real difference in doing it that way or do I just buy from the website?

that's our plan exactly. I bought 2 passes from Disney Store in Canada and just plan to upgrade to DVC regular AP when we arrive. We won't use the ticket, just upgrade it right away. It's cheaper because you get the pass at full us price at par. Basically saves at least $60 Cdn. per pass

a lot will say to use it one day first then upgrade it because it locks in the price you paid for it. it might not make a difference if you are buying from the Disney store - it makes a difference if you are buying from underciover tourist though - their prices are lower per ticket and the price gets locked in to the gate price i think then you can upgrade to the AP.

Just checking I understand this right. If I buy a ticket (Ulitmate ticket 14 days in the park from Disney UK) then I can upgrade to an annual pass when I get to disney. Will I still have DVC discount?

Yes. Make sure you have your DVC membership card when you do the upgrade. Also make sure the price of the AP with the discount is equal to or more than the ticket you plan to upgrade. The CMs are not supposed to give refunds.
