Question about upgrading to AP

Here's the scenario:

I have purchased five day for the price of three park hoppers for a visit in August. My wife and I are considering upgrading to APs. I have read that you can apply unused days on a park hopper toward an AP.

Since the park hopper gives us two free days, can I use one day on the park hopper and then apply the whole cost ($179) toward an AP?

The reason I would like to do things this way is that one of our dates (a Saturday) is blacked out for APs and we would still like to go into the park.

I hope that I have explained this in a way that makes sense.

On the last day of your visit, go to the Bank on Main Street and upgrade your PH to an AP. You will use your PH for all days of your visit, so the AP blockout dates don't matter. Then, when you go to upgrade on your last day, they will apply what you spent on your 5 day pass to your AP.

Have fun!

Got it. This is all much simpler than I was making it out to be. :lmao:

Thanks for the speedy reply.

You could even upgrade ON that Saturday, the blockout day, and as a courtesy they will let you stay (and hop). Just make sure no further days of that trip are blocked out, of course.

Ya, instead of waiting if you just have the 1 blackout day, go on Saturday anytime and process your upgrade. You will be able to go in and out the day you upgrade and park hop too at no additional charge. Trust me, I've done it. :)

Oh, I'm so glad you told me this! We are planning to do a Sunday morning EE/MM so I won't upgrade until Monday. :)

If you get in on Sunday with EE, upgrade on Sunday whenever you have time to go to the bank so you can get your AP discounts. No point waiting until Monday.

Agreed.

Now, the one caveat here is if you are staying onsite. If you're staying onsite, you get all the MMs available during your stay; your ticket's MM is irrelevant. So if you're onsite, don't worry about that Sunday MM.

But if you're staying offsite, then do. :)

We just found out that DW will be getting an 8% pay cut. Thank you State of California. It was going to cost us about $600 to do a budget trip in October, including the cost of APs, flights and some super cheap accommodations. With the pay cut and our already scheduled relatively expensive trip in August there is just no way we can do it.

I'm so bummed. On the bright side, DW says that if our August trip goes well, she will do a three day weekend for Gay Days 2010. That's 16 months away...I can plan that. :)
