Question about upgrading to an Annual Pass

We have purchased MYW passes with dining for a vacation coming up. We want to upgrade to Annual Passes, was wondering how that would effect the DDP? I understand how to do it, but still a bit confused if we can keep the Dining plan or not, or what will happen?

We upgraded with the dining plan and it wasn't a problem. We got new passes for the AP and kept the dining plan and our room keys on the original card.

Do it after the tickets (on room keys) are handed to you at check in. Then nothing else (such as dining) is affected or changed.

(for those eavesdropping) Anyone or everyone can upgrade but, just a reminder, you cannot surrender two or more regular tickets to apply towards the purchase of just one annual pass.

The following are quotes from the section "Upgrades: Magic Your Way Tickets to Annual Passes" from the Cast Portal (updated 8/9/06). (Note - the first paragraph below is a paraphrase combining parts of two paragraphs and leaving the technical instructions out, the other two paragraphs are quotes.)

Because MYW tickets are configured to expire based on FIRST USAGE and Annual Passes are configured to expire based on DATE OF ISSUE, Cast Members must manually enter the expiration date to be one year from the original ticket's FIRST USAGE.

Guests are able to upgrade or modify their MYW tickets any time within 14 days of first use, regardless of whether the No Expiration Option is purchased. After 14 days no ticket modifications or upgrades may take place.

When upgrading to Annual product, of the Guest's original ticket included Water Park Fun & More Option, and any part of that option was used, then the Guest may only upgrade to the Premium Annual Pass.

Of course you cannot use more than one pass to upgrade to an Annual, it must be a one to one relationship only.

Ok, just so I am 100% clear:
I will be on a Land/Sea vacation in May '07, and want to upgrade to Annual Passes. I have myself, Wife, and 8yr old daughter & 7 yr old son. We have the length of stay park hoppers that go with the package.

When I walk up to guest relations, I can simply present my room keys (keys to kingdom) and tell them I want to upgrade all 4 to APs? They will say sure, and tell me the price, and I pay, and off we go? I'm good through that same date in 2008?

What is the price to upgrade?

If I want to make reservations for a December, am I better off doing that soon, or should I wait until I have the APs?

Any help will be appreciated.

There is no longer a "Length of Stay" ticket; they were eliminated almost two years ago. You will receive a ticket (on your room key) good for a certain number of days.

It will be good for one year from the date of first entry into a Park. It does not matter if you do it on the first or last day, as long as it is done within 14 days of first use.

What is the price to upgrade?
It depends on the "current gate price" of the ticket you are using to upgrade. Currently an adult AP is $434.00 + 28.21 tax = 462.21. You will pay the difference. For example the CGP of a 4-day hopper is $263.06 (including tax) so you would pay $199.15.

You do not have to have your AP on hand to make reservations at the AP rate. However, you must have it on check-in, or sometimes they will allow you up to 24 hours to present the AP or they will re-rate your room to full rack rate.
