Question about upgrading/bridging park tickets

Most of what I know about WDW tickets, I learned from Mike.
He'd often PM me with new ticket info over the years.

Yes, he will be missed.
I appreciate your answers. One more question if you don't mind...
I also want to renew my sons AP in a few weeks when I go to WDW. He will not be with me. Can I use one of my MYW tickets to be applied to an AP renewal? I know that I won't be able to bridge any type of ticket if he is not with me, but could I still use it towards the renewal anyways? His AP expires in December and he will be going to WDW in January. I want to renew before then.

A. How old is your son?
B. Yes. (If it has never been used.)
C. Yes.
D. Sounds good.

A. He is 15
B. Yes, I have tickets that have never been used.
But now that I have had coffee, I am thinking it may not be a good idea. I woukd only be credited whatever UT or Orbitz paid for the ticket, not what I paid, maybe not such a good idea after all.

Yup.
I'd just hold the discounted tickets for a future trip.

I think you are right. Sometimes, I over think things. There was a lot of chatter about possible changes in tickets. So, I was thinking maybe I should not have bought so many tickets in advance, but I am going to assume I will still be able to use them in some fashion. And we don't get AP's every year.

You can count on that, regardless.
Thanks again for all of your help. One more question. My DD worked at WDW in the DCP. While there she also bought some 5 day MYW park hoppers. Can her boyfriends use one of them and add a day to it? Or would that be the same answer as upgrading to an AP and we only get credited the amount she paid for the ticket? In that case, it definitely wouldn't be worth it.

1. Can her boyfriends use one of them
2. and add a day to it? Or would that be the same answer as upgrading to an AP and we only get credited the amount she paid for the ticket? In that case, it definitely wouldn't be worth it.

1. If the tix have never been used at all, yes.

2. If (IF) they are regular MYW tickets, they can be upgraded (days added, features added, made into AP) but, since they were purchased directly from Disney, you cannot price-bridge them. So, only the amount paid.
