So.. I am going for 4 days. Planning right now to purchase the buy 3 days get 2 free promo tickets (and either just eat the last day or possibly swing in there on our last day before we head to the airport). Our first day we are staying offsite (in a free hotel purchased with points). The other two nights will be onsite. The first day of our trip woudl be a block out date for the lower level APs. Right now I am not seeing any APH rates for our dates that would get me a better deal than I already locked in, but if an APH rate does come out that would get us a better rate can I do the following:

Book the APH rate
Go in the first day on our purchased 3 + 2 tickets.
Second day move to our onsite hotel
Upgrade my ticket to a lower level AP that is no longer blocked out (was only blocked the day before) and use for remainder of trip
Save money. :)

Does that make sense?

What are your trip dates?

(the two promo date tickets have zero monetary value
If you upgrade )

March 19 - 22nd… our 5th day would be possibly the 26th when we return from the beach to Orlando and fly out

Yeah… I didn’t think I would get more money for the two free days.. I’m more wondering if I can upgrade to the AP on the 2nd day and therefore avoid having to buy the more expensive AP, but still obtain the AP rate at the hotel.

Used to be fine. Maybe @Ariel620 can help since she was asking a similar question about a Jan trip - https://www.disboards.com/threads/ticket-upgrade-to-ap-during-blockout-dates.385219ng

Yes, thanks for tagging me, I did this in Jan and it worked.

I bought 3 day tickets. Used the Jan 2,3,4. The 2,3 were blocked out from the seasonal AP, but on the 4th when we were leaving, we upgraded the family to seasonal APs (even though we used the tix on blockout days). We didn't have to pay anything for the upgrade, since those were expensive dates it was the same cost as the seasonal AP.

One tip, you have to do this at the GS at the front of the park. Hotel can't do it, and those other GS in the park can't do it. But I had a wonderful GS person from further back in the park come check on me in the long line at the front of the park to make sure I was successful. She was great!

Thank you!!! Now to watch out for an awesome APH rate. :)
